Red light therapy (RLT) is a non-invasive treatment that uses low-level red or near-infrared light to target skin and cells. It's also known as low-level laser therapy, low-power laser therapy, low-power laser, or photobiomodulation.

RLT is thought to work by:
Increasing collagen production
Increasing fibroblast production
Increasing blood circulation to tissue
Reducing inflammation in cells
Increasing the production of mitochondria, your cells' energy sources
Encouraging cells to make antioxidants faster

RLT is promoted as a treatment for:
Improving wound healing
Reducing stretch marks
Reducing wrinkles
Improving facial texture
Improving psoriasis, rosacea, and eczema
Improving scars
Improving sun-damaged skin
Activating, healing, and regenerating damaged muscle tissue
Enhancing sports performance
RLT is gaining traction as a dermatological treatment for certain conditions, but more clinical research is needed to fully support its claimed benefits.
