PART 2.

This week's Run №507
[ Hares Just Mircea & Face Cream ]

The first part held in this small hamlet, with so many smiling locals, charming land plots, and luxurious nature of the surrounding made our (big) group happy; what a perfect time to snap another beer while the people take photos! Just Mircea, one of the hare of day, telling me - " hey, brother, this will become better ". Maybe he was right about greatness and all that.

The loud voice of Constant Disappointment - " take another beer; we go this way " herald our departure to the 2 leg of our run. This way is the road that hug the stream we previously followed, and it doesn't takes time we find ourself at the source of it; a huge network of rice fields and it's interconnected canals, digs and passageway. On the horizon are the mountain ranges that encircled the south-west part of Nha Trang (we're the other side of them) and in one of the valley, we can see some of the Suối Đổ many waterfalls, and it's grandiose Pagoda complex perched high up between them. It's spectacular from afar, but to admire from near we have at least 2 km (ish) so - " On On Hashers ". On the way, the Sun is already bathing us with it's sleepy orange glow, the fields on our right are like mirrors awaiting their seeds. Farmers are conter shadows slowly walking in the wet mud, the walking hasher are spread wide, and 700m away, a long train is completing this idyllic paysage. Wow, just wow. - "On On".

When the road reaches the railways, roughly 700m to the Pagoda, the road become a path, and then the path qu**ky become narrow canals that separate the fields. - "On On". Falling here is not an option if you want to keep you shoes clean.
We're slow, but prudent...sadly, the last part is only a slightly hardened mud bridge...that not shoes could escape intact.
Now, imagine if we have any rain today!!!

There confetti here, and it's a road, we're safe and we're near the back entrance of the Pagoda complex... it's huge ! Coming from the fields, and seeing a beggar in a wheel chair, and a few old women with reduce mobility, I realize suddenly that their must be a main road going here...
Duh! That's what 3 beers does with reasoning! - " On on"

A bit farther, we crossed other hashers looking exhausted descending the stairs - "we've been there, it's beautiful"...so we continue until the stair branched out left and right...we took the right side that's lead to a brigde nested between a series of cascades and the Pagoda itself standing just there... magnificent.

The Sun is already dying. Time to get down, and rejoin the other hashers, now all gathered in the covered parking lot of the Pagoda. It's a major tourist attractions in the summer apparently.

Here, people are just starting to eat Mirror & Pickel Dick famous vegetarian soup with bang mi. There's was just enough for everyone. More beers (or pops) and we circled up for the Live Run Report, we're hasher gets on ice for various reasons. It's fun and this week we must have broken a record for the most hashers on a ice bag at the same time...7! There also been change in some Vietnamese Hashers names, to make them better, for example Ass Crack will now be known as Wise Crack. There was only praise for the hares Face Cream & Just Mircea, the day had gone so well, and the exceptional sceneries still magic in our head.

Indeed, - " it was very nice my barefoot friend" !

PART 1.

This week's Run №507
[ Hares Just Mircea & Face Cream ] awesomeness was predicted - " You'll see, it will be very nice my friend " -
by it's newest hare last week. Many of you have noticed him in a few runs already, Mircea is the guy walking barefoot everywhere he goes- "it's better for health" - , and is really appreciated for helping the slowest of us in difficult situations on the trails. Comes next week, he will have earned his name with panache.

All started by a sunny Sunday right in the middle of the rain season, and having done the last few runs under the rain 🌧️, this was a welcome surprise for the 49 Hashers departing from Monaco Coffee. Big smiles on everyone's face.
New: Focking Innocent & Pay Me Now are now in charge of the registration processes. Props for the hashers bringing the ice boxes, and table to the other side of the street BEFORE the bus arrival...smart move 🤓!

3PM sharp. On On board the bus...due west! On the way, we collect wonderful Facecream and a host of children, they too love this Sunday adventure.

When the bus stopped, on the side of the "original highway" QL№1, between a garage and a dusty restaurant, it wasn't evident that the run will be "very nice my friend", and not helping was the heavy traffic was covering Constant Disappointment trail instructions - " follow the arrows & confetti, and don't get lost 😆 " .

- " On On, this way (right) ". Off the highway, in a minute, we find ourselves at the entrance of a small village, obviously one of the main street entrance judging by the markets and food stalls on both side..the shoppers gathered there are amused by the odd group walking past them...the kids frankly laughing and trying to get our attention. 📸 Click Click!
In our group, some stop at the first grocery store the see to get some additional beers to help the walking effort underway!

This village isnt very affluent, and it seems that the main economy is to cater to the truckers stoping at the outskirts of the city; garages, washing services, small nha nghi, and affordable restaurants could be observed all along the way. Here confetti 🎊...there - "On left" at the T-jonction . The road ahead is straight; it the residential area, and it's flanked by old style houses, gardens, abandoned lots, and small shops of all trades. There too, many kids are cycling, running and playing as we stroll along... People are smiling and playful it's ideal to take some photos 📸 Click!...On On. Ahead, there's a few turns and now some rice and vegetables fields are visible behind the houses...here we turn right and pass in front of a quint pagoda and a nun salute us happily showing with her finger the way where the other hashers we're going. - " On on "... We continue, and on our right we follow a small stream for 800m, there the small road connects to the highway, and the stream under the bridge we have to cross to get back to our bus.
The sun is still bright and hot, this drink stop is welcome! People are happy, what a glorious day 🌞

Redux •

This week's Run №506 [ Hares Just Hiền Huỳen & Miss Mary Poppins ] seemed familiar to the who bravely came despite the rainy weather. Our bus took the same north west roads, and we "circle up" at the top of the Dac Loc Dam!

No complaints here, the area is gorgeous, and a 2nd visits isn't nearly enough to explore the whole valley!

We "circled up " and and Constant Disappointment gives the usual instructions of the walk; follow the arrows, and the confetti papers. It's that simple. The trick is to spot them and not get lost 🙈. On On!

If last week walk, in the valley below the dam, was a messy affair of mud, this week run would be in the western hill above the reservoir lake; a "dryer" exploration ground.
To this end, our group has to walk the length of service at the dam, direction the door locks, there despite the reservoir being almost empty, and a gentle rain falling on us, the doors retaining the water are not completely shuts...the water jet is powerful, one would want to slide there!
Click 📸 Click 📸 and "On On" and we continue the road, who now curves and follow the elevation of the hill. At this juncture, the fastest Hashers are already out of view. The road continues up, and we stumble on a left arrow, and a confetti spot..."On left" into the forest! Here, a warning is given by Honey Trap & Pay Me Now: " old or crippled " this muddy path isn't for you! But no one listen, specially Focking Innocent, to which the message was intended! We proceeded with assurance anyway, a gentle barefoot Romanian, Just Mircea, always helpful, was strolling at the same low speed.

Just as it was, the rain stopped, the the way up wasn't to difficult, and our pace was only interrupted by those nasty spiky trees that makes an habit to grow near footpaths. On in the tibia, or in one eyes these sharp spikes can't be good. Hopefully, in the day, to spot them isn't very hard. On On.

After a while a certain kind of light indicates that we were soon to start the decents...the jungles cleared out, and from there, the majestic view of the dam, the mountains surrounding it, the valley below, and far away, part of Nha Trang's skyline was visible. 📸 On on!

"They" say the decents is always more challenging than the ascent...well, "they" are right on this one! From jungle path to hillside downward banana & mango farm. The ground is covered with multiple layers of slippery branches, tree trunks, and banana leaves, and with no obvious maintained pathway, walking without sliding somewhere is attention grabbing and very slow. Eventually, our (very slow) little group appeared at the evacuation canal below the dam. Far far away, the first hashers are disappearing below the horizon again...we follow, click click 📸, on on, this way, climb, cross back, climb down, follow the conterfort, confetti here, there, on right, cross the stream...ah, we're the last but it's time for beer stop 🍻. One has to enjoy life, and here, everyone is happy and surrounded by nature beauty.

3 minutes later. On on. The fastest had a good 15 minutes of rest, and many beers in advance too, went on the second leg of the journey. The objective was to go around the whole lake...here, Taxi Girl, Little Prick and Free Balls, when for a quarter of the way, only to comeback to prepared the surimi pasta salad that was on the menu this week.

When, after 40 minutes, the Hashers went back, we started to eat in earnest, the sky was already dark, and we soon gathered for the "on ice" circle where different charges were laid, mainly to the "spy" hashers Madame Lash & Flasher. Pickle Dick! Sing us a song!

To note this week...no bus in the ditch! Broken Piston don't make the same mistake twice, let it be known!

HASH DOESN'T RUN ITSELF, SO WELL DONE TO EVERYONE INVOLVED.

WHAT AN AMAZING ACHIEVEMENT FOR A DRINKING CLUB WITH A RUNNING PROBLEM.
