Faleminderit Milot Hasimja Ora Shtate nê Klan Kosova
Mulla Ademi's House constructed in the second part of 19th century in the village of Keqekollë (Prishtina Municipality) was unquestionably the most beautiful mansion in the Gallapi area (formerly known as Gollaku). In one of the stones of the foundation, it is carved a David star with half-moon. In the same stone one sees a carved text in Arabic letters which supposedly gives information about the house. This house is a residual collective memory of the notorious massacre committed by Serbian Gendarmery on 10th January 1921. On this day, in his house Mulla Ademi was massacred together with nine of his close family members.
Only around 20 minutes' drive separates Keqekolla fortress from Prishtina. This fortification was constructed in the fourth century and restored in the sixth, according to archaeological data.
In his work De Aedeficis, the ancient royal court historian Procopius of Caesarea mentioned the Keqekolla fortification (6th century AD).
You may appreciate nature and the scenery from the summit, aside from the fortress.
Hidden gems of rural Prishtina.
Prapashtica Mosque, constructed in the nineteenth century, has a distinct style of architecture. This type of mosque, as well as the ones in Braine and Meshine villages, do not belong to the Ottoman architecture style and are rather rarely found in Kosova. The minaret of Prapashtica Mosque is octagonal, and the colors and details within the mosque, although faded by now, can still be noticed. Its current state is poor, and it is in risk of collapsing.

Museum – Independence House Dr. Ibrahim Rugova
Historical building that once served as a head of Kosovo Writers Association in late 1980s and then as a former headquarters of the Democratic League of Kosovo at the beginning of 1990s. In 1999 building was burnt by Serbian forces during the Kosovo war, while after the war it was rebuilt and opened as the museum. Museum “Independence House Dr. Ibrahim Rugova” was opened at the end of 2007.
The space of the Museum is quite small, and it reflects the efforts of the Kosovo Albanian people on the road to independence. Various exhibits are represented there; some of them belong to the late former president, Dr. Ibrahim Rugova.

The former building of the city library “Hivzi Sylejmani” according to the inscription on the facade dates from 1930. Its initial function was a residential one, owned by a merchant of Jewish origin Jovan Milic from Pristina. From November 1944, the Kosovo Committee of the Communist Party was in this building, while from 1945 this house was transformed into a library of the city of Prishtina.
Condition: Poor, Neglected.
The building where the Institute for the Protection of Monuments of Kosovo has its offices now, dates from the second half of the 19th century and it is located near the old city’s clock tower. This building which until 1954 belonged to the Koxhadish family, it is a typical example of an urban residential architecture, and it has an important historical and cultural value for Kosovo and beyond. The building has all the facets of classical Ottoman palaces, with its woodwork contours, courtyard, and delicately crafted ornaments.

The Partisans Martyrs Cemetery (Velania)
In the late 1950s, plans were initiated by regional governments and veterans organizations to create an expansive memorial cemetery complex to commemorate Prishtina’s martyrs of the People’s Liberation Struggle. The chosen location for the monument was a prominent distinct hilltop park overlooking the city of Prishtina in the neighborhood of Velania, just east of the city center. The Partisans Martyrs Cemetery memorial in Velania district was completed in 1961 over a park of 3 hectares.

Kosovo’s cultural institutions recognize this building as the "House of Lazic" whereas the locals who lived in Prishtina, for instance from the 1960s know this space as "The cafe of Mile Qorri". The year of construction placed as a decoration at the top of the building show that it is built in 1925. The building is unique because of its architecture and got into a private ownership during the process of so called ‘privatisation’ after the 1999 war in Kosovo. Currently, it remains empty without serving any particular purpose.
Jashar Pasha Mosque
The Jashar Pasha Mosque, located in the historic centre of the city of Prishtina, is a remarkable part of cultural heritage. It was named after a wealthy citizen of Prishtina and mayor of Skopje (1842) Jashar Pasha, who built this mosque in 1834.The interior is a unique room illuminated by stacked windows, composed of mahvil (the part where women sit), mimber (pulpit) and mihrab (the front part where imam leads the praying). Above the mihrab, the wall is painted with a menorah and six-pointed star. The latter is to be found also in the entrance façade and in the wooden ceiling which is decorated also with plant motifs. This mosque, apart from having a great importance for Muslims in Kosovo, is also considered an important construction work of the cultural-historical landscape of the city of Prishtina.
Start your day with the Balkan’s typical fast-food burek, a type of pastry which is very common in this area. “Picadilly” burektore is our recommendation. The small shop located in the city center, makes the proper best burek, where the owner most likely will convince you to accompany it with a yoghurt. It is named “Picadilly” because the owner lived in London.
Cites vibrate, tales are made and people unite. This is what exactly happened when 500 artists gathered to express their graffiti art in the 8000m² side wall of the railway in Prishtina. This was possible with the help of 140 volunteers in the largest festival in the region „Meeting of Styles Kosovo“ (2019) organized for the 6th year in a row in Kosovo. These artistic statements reclaim residual spaces for the public, revitalize the places that are spaces of memories while simultaneously engrain a sense of shared responsibility for the public space. This event of joint work of artists covered lots of more square meters by turning the Tunnel at the Train Station in Prishtina into gallery of arts.
