Breathe in the Forest : Nature Connection for Everyone

I’m back to work. The most amazing ‘job’ in the whole world 💚🌳🌿
I am thrilled to be hosting these sessions The Burrow Farnham.
The Wheel of the Year brings a structure to our lives that helps us connect with the Earth. Celebrating her seasons, ourselves and each other, our achievements and our losses. Each of the eight festivals is celebrated with a different focus according to the season it marks. By consciously working with Earth’s changing energies, we learn to flow with Nature and with our own soul path.
Kate, founder of , is an experienced shamanic practitioner and modern medicine woman, a certified forest bathing guide and natural mindfulness coach. Kate lives in tune with Nature and the Wheel of the Year and has gathered a rich tapestry of experiences and teachings that she loves to share.
Join us for eight two-hour workshops celebrating the ancient Celtic festivals that mark the Earth’s yearly cycle and the changing seasons. Kate will intricately weave each celebration session with the underlying energy of the season, exploring how this energy affects us and how we can use it to lead a more soulful, nature-based life. Each workshop offers a blend of meditations, journaling, ceremony, creative activities and discussions tailored to deepen your connection with yourself, each other and the Earth. Through this holistic approach, you will find alignment with the natural rhythms of the Earth, so you can embrace the wisdom of each season in your life.

One of most favourite quotes. I feel this deeply …….🙏🏻
"Nature is our greatest teacher. It teaches us silence, patience, resilience, and the art of letting go. It reveals the interconnectedness of all things and the profound wisdom of simply being." - Jiddu Krishnamurti

We ARE Nature - we are not onlookers …. Beautifully explained by Donna Ashworth
YOU ARE NATURE
There is a reason why walking amongst nature is most people’s best advice when depression strikes.
Because walking in nature is a return to ‘home’.
You are not a lover of nature, or a fan of nature, you ‘are’ nature.
You are as much nature as the trees in your garden and the bees on your picnic.
You were designed to live your days out in the wild with your fellow creatures and plants but progress, humanity, had different plans for us all.
And so we exist day-to-day, in our homes, but never ‘home’.
The quickest route back to self, to inner peace, is bare feet on grass, arms around trees, head in the clouds and heart in a forest.
Put your bones in water, whenever you can, smell each flower you see and crumble dirt between your tired-of-typing fingers.
You are nature, go home once in a while.
It will bring you much you didn’t even know you were missing.
Donna Ashworth
This poem is from my new book ‘Wild Hope’, a book of short poems designed to remind you daily… why we are, who we are and how to harness hope, joy and peace as journey through this life.

Today I took time to come back to my centre - and I did it by going to the forest with my bestie . Today was about filling up my own cup so that I can be source of strength for my family as we continue to ride the waves that are coming at us thick and fast at the moment. It’s so important to find how to do this for ourselves. How do you re-energise? 💚🌳💚😊🌿

“She sat at the back and they said she was shy.
She led from the front and they hated her pride.
They asked her advice and then questioned her guidance.
They branded her loud, then were shocked by her silence.
When she shared no ambition they said it was sad.
So she told them her dreams and they said she was mad.
They told her they'd listen, then covered their ears,
And gave her a hug while they laughed at her fears,
And she listened to all of it thinking she should,
Be the girl they told her to be best as she could.
But one day she asked what was best for herself,
Instead of trying to please everyone else,
So she walked to the forest and stood with the trees,
She heard the wind whisper and dance with the leaves.
She spoke to the willow, the elm and the pine,
And she told them what she'd been told time after time.
She told them she felt she was never enough,
She was either too little or far far too much,
Too loud or too quiet, too fierce or too weak,
Too wise or too foolish, too bold or too meek,
Then she found a small clearing surrounded by firs,
And she stopped...and she heard what the trees said to her.
And she sat there for hours not wanting to leave.
For the forest said nothing, it just let her breathe.”

Lovely morning leading the Family Toddle at the lake for . We used the treasure that we collected to create a nature heart that would remind us of our morning. Great example of a late summer seasonal heart made by one of our walkers 😊🌿

Looking forward to working with the trees and my drum tomorrow 💚😊🌳💫
It’s hard to be down when accompanied by such beauty.
Looking for people to help me complete my final case study. Are you able to help me on 30th July? 9:30 -12 noon.
I will be holding a beautiful circle in the ancient woodland surrounding Selborne.
Spend time slowing down and absorbing all the good things that nature has to offer us as I guide the group in using our senses to connect more deeply with the world around us. Once we have relaxed and switched to our parasympathetic nervous systems, I will gently guide us through a shamanic journey to connect with a tree spirit to explore the messages that they may have for us at that moment. We’ll spend time sharing, journalling and honouring the trees before finishing with a beautiful gratitude tea ceremony.
No previous experience is required but I ask you to commit to coming and feeding back to me about the session so that I may complete my case study.
I will ask you to fill out a pre-session consultation form. No personal information will be shared with my moderators. They will not be able to identify you by reading my case study.
There is no charge to join our circle on this day. I may ask you to write a review that I can use on my website - it can be anonymous.
Please know that the walking pace is slow but be aware that the path can be muddy and uneven in places. There are some steep inclines on the hanger but they are undertaken at a slow pace. Please dress appropriately for the weather, using layers of clothing. Stout footwear, long sleeves and trousers are recommended.
Please bring: Something waterproof to sit on and a drink.
Only 6 places available.
Please message me to reserve your space, or contact me on 07903283469 or at [email protected]. Please be sure that you are able to commit to the time and date.
Thank you. I deeply appreciate your support, Kate 😊🌿 # # #

Hello all. My name is Kate and I’m a certified Natural Mindfulness and Forest Bathing guide. I’ve also been training as a Modern Medicine Woman and Shamanic healer. I work closely with plants and trees to bring a person’s energetic and physical body back into balance. I also hold circles to mark the wheel of the year, facilitate women’s circles that build beautiful communities, and create rituals and ceremonies to meet the needs of my clients.
I am lost for words really! The breathtaking beauty and vastness of the place I found myself in this weekend allowed me to explore my place in the interconnected web of life on an even deeper level.
Feet on the earth, sun on my skin, flowers in my heart and herbs in cup - feeling so connected and alive this morning. So much gratitude for all that I receive from Mother Earth. I always try to begin my day by connecting with the land I live on, the space on our planet that I call home. I’ll post more about my morning practice, how it supports me and why I do it over the next few months 💚🙏🏻🌸 I’d love to hear about your morning connection and gratitude practice, if you’d like to share xx
Walking under a gloriously blue sky, smelling the scent of warm pine, listening to the gorse seed pods pop in the heat of the afternoon sun - the recipe for a perfect June natural mindfulness walk 😊🌿
As I've been walking this week experiencing the beauty of Spring unfolding all around me, I've also been aware of a deep sadness that I'm carrying within me. We hear news everyday of how humankind is destroying the planet that we share with all other beings from the more-than-human world.
The situation is critical and the guilt that I feel for the role I have had in this lays heavy within me. Each walk had felt like a roller coaster ride - highs as I listened to the birds singing, touched the sticky buds of horse chestnuts, watched the bumble bee visiting the pollen ladened p***y willows - followed by lows as I considered how I had impacted the earth in the half century that I have been alive.
Considering how all of nature is interconnected, it has reminded me that we humans are also wholly interconnected. So whilst I can't change things on my own, each of my small positive actions adds to those small positive actions that others are making. Every positive action boosts another positive action. However small I feel that action may be, it will always be worth taking. That old saying that a journey starts with just one step comes to mind.
Together we build the future 😊🌿
Tansy has summed up Forest Bathing so perfectly. It really isn’t just a walk in the woods 💚🌳🌿🦉🐝🌼💚
I took some time out this evening to watch the sunset. So very beautiful 😊🌿
Just a little reminder to take a moment for yourself and breathe…💚
We are programmed to respond to the colour green. It’s an ancient response. Forests were our safe place, where our nervous system could return to its rest and relax setting. It’s still true today 💚🌳🌿
