Today, we honour Joanna Mendak. This hugely accomplished Polish swimmer from Suwalki, Poland who has no sight in her left eye and limited sight in the right is also a trained Physiotherapist. Joanna started swimming at age six and won her 1st GOLD medal at her debut Paralympics in Athens Greece at the tender age of 15. Going on to win a 2nd & 3rd GOLD medal in subsequent Paralympic meets in Beijing 2008 and London 2012. Joanna has also added a SILVER and 2 BRONZE medals to her collection. Today, we honour Róisín Ní Riain. At 16 years old, she is the youngest Irish athlete at the Paralympic games in Tokyo.

This hugely impressive young lady from Drombanna in Co. Limerick who is severely visually impaired, announced her arrival on the world stage at the world para swimming series in Italy in late 2020.
