Exclusive interview: Franciacorta, 1906 - The oldest winery Unspoken words, secrets and historic traditions started back in 1906, are still maintained by the same family who founded a piece of Italian history. Almost twelve decades ago, the De Filippo winery contributed to found Franciacorta and became the first winery to produce, in the 60’s, the “Franciacorta Brut” and later, in the 70’s the very first “Riserva”, today known as “Saten”. Every single bottle is looked after and individually turned by hand by senior members of the De Filippo family. No mechanical invention could ever replace the knowledge and the wisdom acquired over the years of a lifetime Mr. Domenico De Filippo also defined the guidelines and standards required for the Franciacorta denomination. History is the story of the past and a form of collective memory, but History is also the story of who we are, where we come from, and 1906 is a milestone which started a tradition still followed and valued by the De Filippo family.
