II. "Furioso" from "Tate Sonata" by Marek Pasieczny.

Minimalist and repetitive, this second movement is inspired by «Strip» (921-6). A digital print by the eminent representative of modern German painting: Gerhard Richter.
This gigantic work (2010 4416 122 mm) consists of thin horizontal bands of different colors. Started in 2010, this series of paintings illustrates the growing idea of what a painting could be in a digital age.
Marek Pasieczny translates this sensation, which he describes as «disturbing and energetic», with a fast tempo and surprising dynamics. The right hand arpeggio/rasguado technique transcribes the “penetrating power” of the coloured bands. The irregularity of the bands (slightly thinner, slightly thicker) is represented by the changing of time signatures and the use of irregular time signatures

This first movement is inspired by a series of four paintings : "The Flowers of Evils" by Jirí Kolár. Kolár (pronounced as a “collage”) has developed various ways to combine imagery. In this work, he uses the «prolage», a technique of interlacing vertical bands of two different images. Technique represented in this first movement by the placement of two notes next to each other. The right hand pinches the string behind the left hand, causing a quarter-tone effect that disturbs the clarity of the note.

Inspired by the famous London Museum of Contemporary Art "Tate Modern", "Tate Sonata" makes us discover four works of art with their own techniques. A subtle sound translation of textures, colors and materials :
1. Collage (photograph and lithograph on paper), (1st movement)
2. Digital prints (laminated on aluminum), (2nd movement)
3. Installation (glass, steel cable, motor, projector and tripod), (3rd movement)
4. Painting (oil painting, enamel painting and commercial painting on canvas), (4th movement)

One day, I decided to go to my garden in Reunion Island with my ukulele. I listened to the sounds, the birds, the wind in the leaves, the wind in the trees.
Then I improvised some notes. I tried to translate the breath of the wind in the leaves, the breath of the wind on my skin, translate all the sensations of the moment. From this moment was born "Koud' Ven": my first ukulele composition.

Benoit Mussard
From Reunion Island, Benoit Mussard explores the many facets of guitar through completely different styles. Classical music blends with Brazil colours and Reunion Island rhythms. He discovers the characteristic percussions of séga and maloya with the group «Les Compères Créoles».
Sensitive to music transmission, the guitarist intervenes in schools, libraries and associative structures by proposing musical awakening. He also teaches at the Suresnes Music School and the « Music Box » of Issy-les-Moulineaux.
Graduated from the Reunion Island Conservatoire in 2016, Benoit Mussard continued his studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris, with Tristan MANOUKIAN.
Laureate of the TARRAZI Foundation in 2019, Benoit MUSSARD performs as a soloist on French and international stages.
