Forging afternoon
Popped in to see a former colleague and remembered this fireguard I made for the school in my first year teaching Metalwork at Michael Hall in 2013. All those hand tapped threads …. phew!!
300mm custom biltong knife and k-tip workhorse petit.

Mount Fuji from my late mother-in-laws balcony. About 80km as the crow flies.
Added another K-tip to the website.
I will be in Japan for the next three weeks, but purchases will still be sent out.
Lots of exciting ‘story’ moments coming soon…

270mm slicer, stainless clad Aogami Super, evergreen and bog oak…currently working in the alps.
Great to pop in to see my hero Daniele this evening - baking the best in-house stone-ground, wood-fired sourdough you’re ever likely to eat…
So many amazing growers and producers around me.
I’ve put a few of these up on the website just now. Kitchen ‘pry tool’. You can use them for shucking oysters, releasing the seal on jars, lifting tabs on tins… endless uses, for things you should never do with a knife. £24 including postage to the UK.
Thinking of early crime scene photography shot with a high wide lens looking down, often on a body… tragic, gruesome but also beautiful.
Lots of forging going on. Direct orders, knives for the website, for pop-ups, and fairs early in December.
Octagonal handle, but with a taper on all three axes. This is how my handles have been for almost 10 years now. The taper on the cross-section fits really nicely in the the curl of the fingers, and the thumb on the chamfer gives comfortable stability - when not using a pinch grip…. All handles are made from sustainably sourced (from tree surgeons, storm felled, reclaimed etc.) hardwoods.
Will be this weekend in Tiverton Market. With a nice range of knives.

This helps us to promote the award across a broad spectrum of communities and networks to ensure we reach the talent we aim to support. By doing this we also hope to illuminate figures within the craft landscape that makers can approach to seek further guidance and encouragement, which is why mentorship is a key component of the Cutlers' Award.
