💎 SFR Sterling Cash 💎
Sterling is a 6 year old grey APHA mare standing at 15 hands. She goes back to the infamous Judge Cash and many others such as Hot Dasher, Special Effort and Dash for Cash. She is currently clocking in the 3D and 4D at bigger races (200+) with so much more to give. Sterling has been on the back burner and the owner does not have the time to get her to her full potential as she is going to college in the fall.
Sterling is as sweet as they come, in your pocket type mare. She stands tied, trailers and hauls well, bathes and stands for the farrier. She can run right or left, but in my opinion she prefers left. She runs shod and has no maintenance.
Sterling cruises a really nice set of barrels but just needs the seasoning to gain more confidence. She is paid into Future Fortunes. Fresh X-rays on hand (6.27.2024). PPE is available at buyers expense. Currently being ridden, hauled and entered with Chyenne Mortenson at CM Performance Horses. Asking $17,000 OBO. Located in Cherokee, Iowa.

Queenie has been enjoying her time in the pasture versus the round pen.
I typically don’t start a ton of c**ts outside the round pen like this but she lost all of her over-reactiveness and became more comfortable in an open, pasture setting!
This one has such natural movements. She’s going to be such a nice one!

Amigo had his second trim over the weekend. This guy will stand at the trailer (and sleep), takes fly spray like a pro, stands for the farrier, all the things.
He has such a good demeanor, someone is going to get a good one! He will be weaned at the end of August and be ready to go!

I am planning a trip to Perry, Oklahoma over Labor Day weekend from Cherokee, IA.
I can haul any of these horses down if they are still available or will have space to haul horses there and back with fill rates.

Smashed Wit Mi Amigo 🕺🏼
Amigo is a 2024 model, chromed out, sorrel stud c**t. He has a beautiful blaze and right hind sock. He’s bred to perform in the performance pen from barrel racing, roping, rodeo, etc.
His sire, LM Famous Frenchman, is by Smashing Frenchman who has produced numerous 1D offspring in the barrel pen. LM Famous Frenchman stands at 15’1 hands.
His dam, Blazin Kristy, was used to pony track horses. She is sired by Dashin Hombre who had a SI of 95. Dashin Hombre is by Dashin Val who had a SI of 108. Blazin Kristy stands at 15’1/15’2 hands.
Amigo goes back to some of the greats from Frenchmans Guy, Easily Smashed, Dash Ta Fame, Dash For Cash, Northern Dancer and Gone West (who goes back to Secretariat).
Amigo should mature to at least 15’1 hands, is 5 Panel N/N and is paid into Future Fortunes.
He will be extensively handled until weaning including being halter broke, know how to lead, tie and load/unload in the trailer at weaning.
He is located near Cherokee, IA and will be available at weaning. Asking $4,500 OBO. 25% down payment or payments are accepted until weaning which will be August/September. Will also consider trades for a broodmare!

I do tend to take my time with the ground work to make sure there aren’t any holes before hopping on there back.
Queenie has taken everything in stride and I’m excited to see how she comes along under saddle!
Most probably wouldn’t post this run but there are a lot of positives out of this run.
Mind you Sterling hasn’t ran outside more than a few times. She gained some confidence on the straights and grabbed some gears I wasn’t expecting causing our barrels to be a little wild 🫣
With more hauling and seasoning though, this mare is going to be wicked! 😍
The Backstory
I am Chyenne Mortenson. I grew up near Cherokee, IA on a small family farm which encompassed cattle, hog, and grain operations. My passion for horses started as a young child, and progressed from there. I started my foundation in the showing world which laid a solid foundation of my horsemanship skills. As I grew older, I transitioned into the barrel racing and rodeo industry. That’s where I found my niche in the equine industry.
My cousin introduced me to horses when I was eight years old. I was hooked instantly, and somehow convinced my dad with my charm to buy me a horse of my own. I started my showing debut in the Sioux Valley Appaloosa Club, and joined the local 4H club as soon as I was eligible. I started to find my true passion in barrel racing when I began entering local NBHA jackpots around my 7th grade year. From there I participated in the Iowa High School Rodeo Association, and rodeoed at the amateur and collegiate level at SDSU.
Since then I have had individuals coming to me to tune up, train, and/or sell their horses. I have taken my own personal horses and trained them as well. This is where my idea sparked for CM Performance Horses to make it something of my own.
