Videos by Wylesco the Highlander. This is a journey of myself as I prepare for my first ever Highland season. This is also a place to try new things, share ideas, and share accolades with the community as we push each other to be better today than we were yesterday.
Spinach and chicken with ranch. Can’t ever go wrong with this!!!!
Time To Get Real
Sometimes the only way to grow is to share a bit of yourself with other people. Here I am trying to grow today and tomorrow we will really grow.
The One Thing About The Gym That Drives Me Insane!
We have all seen them! We have all been one of these lifters, the challenge is dealing with them and not laughing at them in their presence. Of course I am talking about the Ego Lifter. You know the one that takes up all the weight from 3 machines to load his leg press, the one that grunts on every single rep as if he/she were setting a world record in whatever exercise they are doing. This video is a small rant on why these folks but me.
I tried a different style today in filming that hopefully brought out more of my personality. Let me know what you think below in the comments.
Celtic Bison Games 2020 (2nd Place Men’s C Class)
Instead of doing a vlog today I decided to finally put together my Cheyenne Celtic Bison reel. I am most proud of the caber toss on this one as it is the best I’ve ever done but my sheaf was a huge disappointment as I couldn’t figure out where to stand on this one.

Discipline Over Motivation
Sometimes just showing up is the hardest part of your day. Big thanks to Josh Einfalt for the fancy intro to this series, I think it turned out really good.
Making Hard Decisions
Sometimes in life we have to make tough decisions. Sometimes they are for our health and sometimes they are in regards to our lifestyle. Today I made the decision to have my body fat analyzed through hydrostatic weighing. I share the results of this in the video. I also had to say goodbye to one of my happy places today. I know I’ll be able to go back at some point but Jiujitsu is unfortunately not something I am able to do at this time.
Go Take A Walk (Vlogtober Day 4)
Walking has always been one of the greatest things that I do to help with overall sense of being. Today was no different and I challenge each of you to go take a walk.
3 Easy Stretches For Hip Mobility
After yesterday’s issues with my hip in the gym I decided to do a video showing three simple stretches to help with that. 1. Hip Flexor lunge 2. Butterfly 3. Frog
I will be adding these to my daily routine to see if I can regain some mobility in my hips.
Sitting All Day Leads to Hip Problems
Today is Vlogtober Day 2. Still going strong with this creating stuff. I realized today while working out that I had some serious problems with hip mobility and figure it is because I have been back at work. We touch on this in this episode. Tomorrow we will be looking at how to counter some of that lack of flexibility with some of my favorite stretches for your hips.
Day 1 of 31 Content every day challenge
I’m just a rambling man, I have no scripts to hold me down. Sorry for going off the rails on this one. Practice makes perfect right? I promise by Halloween I’ll be good at this.
Longs Peak 2020 Highlights (and Lowlights)
I put this on YouTube but wanted to share it here with you all as well. I hope you enjoy.
This might have been my best release on the heavy hammer all day. Unfortunately it pulled me over the trig but I learned so much and had so much fun. Looking forward to next years season since we didn’t really get a full season this year.
#gutted today. Pro competition cancelled, special variance for amateur competition but festival seems to be a no go. It looks like next season may be my break out season as everything has been cancelled this season. #Boo
It has been exactly 12 weeks since I last stepped into the gym. Today I weighed in at 234.4 lbs and 31.2% body fat. I went in and did a very light workout just to get the form back and make sure I can continue to work tomorrow. Workout: 12:00 walking warmup 5x5 squat at 45 lbs 5x5 Bench press at 45 lbs 5x5 straight bar row at 65 lbs I’m going to slowly work back up to the levels I was at so I’ll be lifting super light for a couple of months. That being said I think it is more important to get back into the habit of working out then hitting personal bests right off the bat.
Sheaf Practice
Every day I am trying to get better at this sport. I am working toward a goal of jumping up a classification in the NASGA standings and pursuing a strange dream in a strange sport. I still can’t stop looking at the sheaf as it flies but I am getting a lot better.

Shot Put Practice 4/23
I wasn’t going to post this video today. Not because it is a bad video, which it probably is, but because today I was not feeling it. Every turn, every push, every throw felt off. I even started to think about how if I were stronger I could hide my horrible technique today behind strength and still throw pretty far. Today I felt like such a failure at this sport.
Today was a win!!!!
Today I put in the effort, I tried to work through some stuff and I worked towards my goal for a solid hour. I got out of the house(wore my mask until I got to the ring) and worked towards my goals.
Any day that you take one step towards your goal is a win. Sometimes you take multiple steps and sometimes it is a baby step, but a step towards your goal is still one step closer.
When this is over I’ll be back in the gym, I’ll be able to train with my teammates, I’ll be able to do a lot. What will really count is the time I put in here.
66 Days to Cheyenne: Check-in
Today was really difficult to stay motivated but I was disciplined enough to go outside and get some training in. No video of the throws or drills but a little vlog/video of me rambling on about life.
For those of you that did listen to the video the podcast I was referring to is called “Mind Pump” I do have to warn you that the language can sometimes get a little ripe but they have really upped my mental game as well as given me pointers on the physical game.

Day 1: Beginning Workouts for the Season.
I officially finished my workout goals today. I have a bit of work to go on push-ups and sit-ups as I had to work through multiple sets to reach the rep goal for today. I guess that is where the rep goal will be until I can hit those reps in one go. As far as sheaf went today.... I felt really good. I did some drive drills, first two sheaf throws in the video that replicated the motion of a snatch. I feel like those really helped me get a good spring on my full throws. Gonna keep working but that is the training for today.
