The start of the season can be overwhelming, coming off of the pandemic there is the added stressor of whether or not to keep the old traditions alive or start new ones. Be mindful of your wants and need.

Introducing another WONDERFUL coach on our team, Dilyla Meza! ⁣

My name is Dilyla Meza, I’m a mother to my 13yr old son and a dog mom to my beautiful pit bull Honey. I am a certified life coach from the Health and Wellness Institute, and I’m currently in college for a degree in Psychology. I became a coach because I have been on the other side of the couch. I have had years of feeling unworthy and unmotivated about a lot of areas in my life. Being a single mother, having a career I wasn’t happy with, and being in a difficult relationship. Everything changed for me once my difficult relationship came to an abrupt end. I took a good look at my life and decided things for me had to change. I had to make a changes within myself to create a happier atmosphere for me and my son. Once I asked myself “what choices am I willing to make differently for me?” My path became clear. My journey took work with a therapist, spiritual healing, books, and inner work for my growth. My goal is to help others who just like me need guidance, and the right support into becoming the best version of themselves. The journey isn’t easy but it’s possible, because if I can do it so can you! ⁣

How can things seem so under control one day and then so much is unsure the next? Whether it be the news, the Delta variant 🦠 , politics, personal life, weather, all of the above, these changes and unknowns can really take a toll on us mentally. 🧠

Here is how:
Humans are creatures of habit. We are more likely to engage in activities that we know are safe (aka things that we have done before). We will automatically feel like the things that we know already (whether experienced or learned) are the safest option. Anyone who wants to chat about exactly what is happening in the brain to make this happens, message me- I WOULD LOVE TO CHAT!

So what do we do when something comes up that we didn’t know about?- If 2020 has showed us one thing, it is that things change in an instant. When this happens, remind yourself of the message above. We are creatures of habit, when things change it is hard to transition when our brain is giving signals that say, “This is different, ahhhh.” Be gentle with yourself, support yourself through the discomfort!

What do we do about the things that we realize are habits and that is the only reason that we are doing them? Those things that aren’t actually best for us but we do them because it’s charted territory? That decision is up to you! No one can tell you if it’s worth the discomfort of change.

Personal opinion though- it’s worth it. Anything that brings you towards a a feeling of authenticity is always going to be worth it. 💫

Every single thing that you allow to consume you, or take up your energy that isn’t healthy for you ADDS UP! I hope this serves as a reminder that you are in control! You are in control of how you distribute your energy. Nurture yourself, care for yourself. Remember that entertaining relationships/friendships/commitments /etc. that are heading to an unhealthy place, or are already in an unhealthy place are TOO EXPENSIVE. Pay attention to what lights you up and the times that you feel good. Invest your time, energy and resources there!

How often are you honoring commitments for work? For friendship? For your partner? For you children? For you family?

Now ask yourself- how often are you honoring commitments for yourself?

Plain and simple- when you are living from a place of anger and resent, you aren’t doing the best thing for anyone. This doesn’t mean drop all commitments and only focus on yourself. That would be equally counterproductive. So how do we find that balance?

Start small. What do you love? What are you noticing makes you feel empowered? If you don’t know, pay attention to yourself. Each time you feel amazing, think about what led up to that moment! Now commit to doing that thing for a small amount of time each day. If you know what lights you up, commit to making time for that each day! No excuses. You owe it to yourself and that energy will flow out to everyone around you!

When you are speaking to yourself, remember who is listening. 👂 YOU. 👇🏼Research shows time and time again the power of our thoughts. 💭 What would be said if your comments and thoughts about yourself were played on a loud speaker.? Your brain deserves to hear how powerful, driven, kind and passionate you are. If you are struggling with this and find yourself speaking unkind to yourself, jot those thoughts down. Create an affirmation that is the opposite of whatever you are saying and read them every morning. Each time you read it to yourself- you will train your brain to have these thoughts first. Poor self-talk developed over time, so you have the power to use future time to change those thought patterns. Empower yourself, love yourself. You are loved!
