Here comes my honest review for Koh Mak! Koh Mak is a very small and cute island in between of Koh Chang any Koh Kood. Those three islands are close to Cambodia. You can take the 999 bus from Bangkok Ekkamai, it’s the eastern bus station. At the moment it only leaves once a day at 7:45am. I’d recommend booking the ticket one day in advance to be save. The bus takes you to either the pier to Koh Chang or 10 min later to the pier where speed boats leave to Koh Mak. Have your guesthouse on Koh Mak reserve the speedboat ticket for you. It leaves at 2pm so it’s perfect timing when the bud arrives around 1:30pm 😎 The bus costs 300 baht and the boat 450 baht which are roughly 20 Euros. We stayed at Koh Mak Homestay. The place is extremely clean, had enough space, a cute garden area, free coffee and drinking water and honestly the most helpful hosts. They helped out so much with different transport on the island and also planning our trip to Koh Koh Kood and Bangkok. ❤️ We payed 630 baht, around 16 Euro per night. The island itself can be explored in one day. It’s very relaxed and chill vibes, not much going on there. Perfect for vacation, not so much if you want evening activities 🙃. In that case you have to be on Koh Chang. The beaches are definitely not as beautiful as Koh Kood, but those beaches are hard to beat in general. You can find cheaper accommodation at the beach compared to Koh Kood. And don’t get me wrong the beaches are still beautiful 🙂 One thing that was annoying are sandflies. You find them also on other thai islands and they just loooove me. With coconut oil there is no problem but if you don’t but that on st the beach they’ll attack right away haha. There is a beautiful lake and several hikes around. 📌Durmitor Nationalpark has a lot of hikes, quite advanced ones and two beautiful lakes that you definitely should check out 📌Take the P14 road from Durmitor to Pluzine. Save this for your next road trip 😎☀️ 📌 Makarska area, don’t stay directly in Makarska because it’s a bit trashy and there are cute villages around 📌 Murter island, you can also stay close to it on the main land. That’s what we did and you can drive over a small bridge to Murter and get incredible beaches 🏝️ 📌 Primosten! Make sure to visit Maya Bay when you come to Thailand ☀️ You’ll get there easiest with a speedboat from Phuket or Krabi! Both super easy to reach and I think it takes around 1,5h to arrive in the phi phi islands.
