Certified through The Life Coach School, I help women in midlife overcome decades of weight gain and disordered eating so that they can lose weight for the very last time by managing their minds and regaining control over their lives.

Hi All,

I am teaching a series of four in-person classes on how to lose weight on your own terms through the Lynnwood, Washington Parks and Rec Department.

This series is a fantastic and very inexpensive way to learn how to reclaim your autonomy around food and eating and lose weight as a byproduct.

If you live in the Lynnwood-Edmonds-Shoreline-Lake Forest Park-Mountlake Terrace-Brier-Woodway area of Washington, consider attending.

Follow the link in my profile. I’ve also pasted it in below (it’s long).

Topics include:
~Creating a Food Protocol & Eating Plans
Participants will learn how to create a food protocol and eating plans, learn how to use a personalized hunger scale, set themselves up for success in various situations, and learn how to handle episodes of off-plan eating and overeating in self-respecting and loving ways.

~Self-Care is Human Care
You will learn the critical importance of self-care when it comes to changing ingrained food and eating habits, and losing weight on your own terms. I often refer to the analogy of building a house on a stable foundation versus building one on an unstable one, with the house being the changes in eating and weight and the foundation being self-care.

~Mindset and Thought Work
One of the most important components in making lasting change is believing that it is not only possible, but achievable. You will learn tools & skills for continuously checking in w/ your thoughts, as well as how to cultivate new thoughts, beliefs & a growth mindset.

~Allowing & Choosing Our Emotions
We eat to satisfy emotional hunger. We try to avoid feeling our feelings & discomfort by eating. You will learn what feelings are, how to identify them, how to allow rather than resist them, & how to choose feelings on purpose.

Hi All,
I am teaching a series of four one-hour-long classes on losing weight on your own terms by ditching diet culture through the Lynnwood Parks and Rec Center in October.
October Thursdays, 6:30 - 7:30PM

This series is a super-inexpensive way ($54 - $60 for all four classes) to learn about reclaiming your autonomy and authority regarding food and eating so that you can be at the weight that's good for you.

Class descriptions are below.

Here is the link to the registration page: https://cityoflynnwood.perfectmind.com/24432/Clients/BookMe4BookingPages/BookingCoursesPage?calendarId=dd2b718a-e2fb-43f1-9352-a40c0dbe91c2&widgetId=b2b3887c-e6fe-46bd-a870-4570c0bb4925&embed=False&singleCalendarWidget=true
(Sorry it's long; I don't see a way to create a hyperlink.)

Class One, October 6th, 2022, 6:30-7:30PM
~Creating a Food Protocol & Eating Plans
Participants will learn how to create a food protocol and eating plans, learn how to use a personalized hunger scale, set themselves up for success in various situations, and learn how to handle episodes of off-plan eating and overeating in self-respecting and loving ways.

Class Two, October 13th, 2022, 6:30-7:30PM
~Self-Care is Human Care
Participants will learn the critical importance of self-care when it comes to changing ingrained food and eating habits, and losing weight on their own terms. While self-care is often seen as things like spa visits and being self-indulgent, participants will learn that the quality of their lives depends upon how they show up for and treat themselves on a daily and weekly basis. I often refer to the analogy of building a house on a stable foundation versus building one on an unstable one, with the house being the changes in eating and weight and the foundation being self-care. If a solid plan for taking care of oneself is not in place, changing food and eating habits and sustaining weight loss will be challenging and often will result in reverting to old patterns of behavior.

Class Three, October 20th, 2022, 6:30-7:30PM
~Mindset and Thought Work
One of the most important components in making lasting change is believing that it is not only possible, but achievable. Our beliefs about ourselves shape our lives. For those of us who have struggled with food, eating, and weight, we simply don’t believe we have what it takes to make lasting change. This couldn’t be further from the truth. But, we have to develop awareness of our current beliefs and fixed mindset, and then learn to develop new beliefs and a growth mindset. In this workshop, participants will learn tools and skills for continuously checking in with their thoughts, as well as how to cultivate new thoughts and beliefs that better serve them.

Class Four, October 27th, 2022, 6:30-7:30PM
~Allowing & Choosing Our Emotions
Much of our eating is not to satisfy our physical hunger. Instead, it is usually to avoid feeling our feelings or stuff down feelings that create discomfort for us. Participants in this workshop will learn what feelings are, how to identify them, how to allow rather than resist them, and how to choose feelings on purpose.

This work is life-changing in the best possible way. It is the path to freedom from food obsession and overeating. There are times of ease, but also times of discomfort in this journey. I have come to embrace it all, to not fear what’s coming next. This work is an ongoing practice of being with and getting to know myself better every day.
I’m in my fourth year of maintaining a 100 # weight loss. I’ve blown my own mind. There’s nothing special about me. I’m not stronger, wiser, or more knowing than anyone else. I simply didn’t give up on myself. Day by day, I was willing to do something on my own behalf rather than beat myself up.
You can do this, too.
Let me show you how.

I offer 1:1 coaching that brings these four components together. You will learn skills and strategies for making lifelong changes that serve your best self.

Go to the link in my bio to schedule a courtesy 30 - 60 minute session to see if we’re a good fit.

Happy Saturday everyone!

For this Friday, know this: It is possible to reframe your relationship with food and eating and lose weight on your own terms. Truly. I lost 100 # and have kept them off. Something I wasn’t sure I’d ever do. But I persisted and finally learned to stop beating the s**t out of myself.
There’s absolutely nothing special about me that brought this about. It was my willingness to pause, give myself some breathing room, and take steps toward health on a daily basis.
The life you deserve is one where you are living the life you truly want to live, in the body you truly want to live in. And…it is NEVER “too late.”

I offer one-to-one coaching that’s compassionate, respectful, & is based on proven emotional & mental tools & strategies that are holistically transformative & lead to lasting change.

You obsess about food all of the time.
You’re driving to work and think about muffins. Then you stop for pastries.
You’re at work wondering if there is chocolate or cookies or chips in the break room. Then you go on a hunt for them.
You’re thinking about burgers and fries on your way to the gym. Then you find yourself pulling into the local fast food drive through.
You feel completely out of control… and hopeless.

I know exactly how you feel because I have been there too many times to count.
I’ve lost and regained 100’s of pounds over years and decades.
I’ve experienced the obsession with food and the desperation, believing that I could never find a way to be at peace with food and lose the weight I wanted to lose.

I was finally able to release my obsession with food and to lose 100 pounds on my own terms when:
~I stopped dieting & created my own food protocol and plans;
~I began taking beautiful care of myself no matter what;
~I examined my fixed mindset and beliefs and became willing to believe differently about myself;
~I began experiencing my feelings without fear rather than eating to stuff them down.

I follow this simple four-part process and have reclaimed my physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing.

Peace of mind around food and eating are 1000% possible for you.
It’s possible for you to be confident in your food choices and decisions.
It’s possible to be your own best authority on what to eat, when, where, and how much.

I don’t trust myself around food.”
You are unsure of yourself around food.
You tell yourself that you’ll be “good” & not eat anything “bad”, only to find yourself saying f-it, & eating too much, beyond being satisfied.

I’m raising my hand!
I used to not know what to do with myself when I was around food.
I wanted to be in control & not eat anything in front of other people.
Then I would find myself wavering, thinking that it wasn’t fair. Things changed for me when I learned that it wasn’t the food that had power over me.
My thoughts about the food had power over me.

I get to decide for myself what I want to do.
I can joyfully plan what I eat, be hungry, & eat until I am satisfied.
I make my decisions ahead of time and I plan what I’m going to eat. All of this is available to you.
You can be in charge of your eating.
Decide & plan ahead of time what you want to eat.
You’re in charge. The power is yours. (Not the food’s.)

Permanent, sustainable weight loss is possible.
Freedom from food obsession is possible.
Freedom from anxiety and worry around eating is possible.

Lunch ~ contains 12 plants plus feta, parm, and homemade dressing.
It’s delicious, nutritious, and really filling.
Yum! Look at the second and third pictures for what I included.

It was delicious!
Spinach, romaine, pea sprouts, red pepper, yellow pepper, cucumber, kalamata olives, jicama, radish, poppy tomatoes, pumpkin seeds, cashews, feta, a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese, and homemade salad dressing. 12 plants in one quick, easy-to-make salad.

I’m in the third week of the Zoe Project, and I’m loving it.
I’m learning so much about my blood sugar and blood fat levels, and how they, along with my gut micro-biome, play into my long-term health.
My goal is to reduce inflammation* and maintain a healthy weight.

For the first two weeks, I wore a glucose monitor. I have to say I’m obsessed with measuring my blood sugar levels after eating different types of foods, fasting, and exercising.
I miss it!

Currently, I’m working to eat at least 30 different plants per week.
It’s not as challenging as I thought it would be.

Doesn’t my salad look delicious? It contains seeds, nuts, and many different veggies. (And some feta!)

A few weeks ago, I began making my own salad dressing: vegan avocado oil-based mayo, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, basil and salt. That’s it - five ingredients, all of which I can pronounce!

If you’re interested in finding out your unique dietary needs and which foods work best with your body, I highly recommend the Zoe Project.

*I know some inflammation is ok. I’m referring to the unhealthy kinds.

Like me, you’ve made losing weight harder than it has to be. If it’s not complicated, it can’t possible work. Right?

You have been on more diets than you can count.
You have lost and regained many pounds over the years.
You’re convinced something is wrong with you, that you are deficient in some way.
Basically, you think you’re weak because you can’t lose & keep off the weight.

Over the last several years, I’ve realized that there are four interconnected components of sustainable weight loss and I can implement them simply and sanely - without drama - and get the results that I want - 100 pounds lost.

They are:
~building a foundation of beautiful, consistent self-care (really, it’s human care);
~creating a food and eating protocol that works for you (for you, by you is my motto here);
~creating a mindset and belief system that supports my growth;
~processing & experiencing all emotions - the “good” ones, the “bad” ones, and everything in between.

That’s it.
It takes commitment and courage to be a new version of myself.
But it is so worth it.

My coaching program provides my clients with the structure and support to incorporate these four components to achieve sustainable weight loss.

Today’s workout: Did I want to go to the gym?
No… Yes… Maybe… Not really…
But I did go to the gym and did every exercise my trainer mapped out for me. Every. Damn. One.
I create my own motivation.
(And I feel so virtuous! Ha!😅)
What will you do today when you’d really rather not?

23/06/2022

Example:
If you just ate cookies that were in the break room, don’t start shaming and berating yourself over it. You’ve already eaten the cookies. Not only is berating yourself mean and harsh, it doesn’t carry any benefit, either. You just end up feeling worse. (And feeling worse usually leads to more eating.) Instead, say something to yourself like, “I’ve eaten cookies that I didn’t really want. This is a pattern for me. I’m willing to give myself some time and space to figure out what is going on.”

Next, get curious. It’s as simple as, “I wonder why I keep eating cookies that I don’t really want to eat. What is going on just before I eat? What happened? What was I thinking? How was I feeling?”

Finally, commit to trying something different next time. It could be going for a quick walk, or stepping aside and breathing intentionally, or texting a friend.

My coaching program provides my clients with the structure and support to build awareness and acceptance, while also making life-style changes that will support sustainable weight loss.

If we keep doing what we’ve always done, we will keep getting the same results.

We are past focused when it comes to weight loss.

We keep trying the same diets to lose weight and keep it off.

We’ve been dieting on repeat for years and decades, and keep regaining the weight we’ve worked hard to lose.

We have to break the pattern.

So, we look to our future self, or higher self, for guidance and support.

Your future self is the version of you who has already achieved what you want to achieve.

Powerful questions to ask yourself are:
~Who do I want to be?
~What do I want to accomplish?

I offer one-to-one coaching that’s intimate, compassionate, & is based on proven emotional & mental tools & strategies that are holistically transformative & lead to lasting change.

We try so hard to be perfect at whatever weight loss plan we take on…and when we aren’t perfect at it – because no one can be perfect…we give up and beat ourselves up and then use food to comfort ourselves. And on and on it goes.

If this sounds like you, know that you are not alone. Know that it is possible for you to be your own food & eating and weight loss expert. You don’t have to be perfect to lose weight and keep it off. As a matter of fact, you should make lots of mistakes so that you can figure out what really works for you.
Mistakes are opportunities for you to better know and understand yourself so that you can be your own weight loss advocate.

I am here for you and I want you to know that it is possible to have what you’ve told yourself you can’t.

It is possible to have a healthy relationship with food.
It is possible to eat for nourishment as well as enjoyment and still lose weight and maintain it.
