I am currently going through a transitional period in my life. Recently, I was diagnosed with pericarditis with effusion and had to spend 8 days in the hospital to treat it. I am managing other health issues as well, and it seems like a long and difficult journey ahead.

I enjoy supporting local restaurants, but my dietary limitations prevent me from dining out at most of them. I am looking for restaurants that offer low-sodium, low-fat, and low-sugar options that are flavorful and satisfying. I would love to collaborate with restaurants to create a heart-healthy menu. I want to continue dining out, rather than preparing all my meals at home.

Saturday night found Kevin and I winding down from a day of travel and braving the crowds to catch a glimpse of the Saks 5th Avenue Holiday display. Our adventures led us to the bustling Food Hall at 135 West 50th Street, New York, NY. Amidst the sensory overload, we managed to secure our dinners and a spot at a communal dining table. I’m already excited to return and sample more from the other vendors!

As for me, I kick off the day with a slice of apple pie for breakfast while tuning into the parade and dog show on TV. It’s a simple tradition, but it’s one that I look forward to every year. The events that unfolded last night in Lewiston, Maine have shaken the very foundation of our beloved state. It is a stark reminder that tragedy can strike even in the places we consider safe and secure. As I woke up this morning, I found myself desperately wishing that it was all just a terrible dream. But the harsh reality set in. My heart is broken for my home state, with a heavy focus on the grieving community of Lewiston.

Throughout the night, my partner and I were glued to the police scanner and television, anxiously awaiting any news. The weight of the unknown weighs heavily upon us as we wait to hear about those who survived and mourn the unfortunate souls who did not. The pain and sorrow that engulfs Lewiston is felt by all of us, as we stand in solidarity with the people of this resilient community. As of this morning the shooter is still at large.

Thanks to Facebook memories, I just had a blast from the past! 13 years ago, I devoured the legendary Apocalypse Now burger at Nosh. Picture this: a mouthwatering combination of pork belly, thick-cut bacon, a cheese-smothered beef patty, topped with a sliver of foie gras, macerated cherries, and homemade mayo. It was an absolute flavor explosion! Sadly, this masterpiece is no longer on their menu since the ownership changed hands. Oh, and let's not forget the bacon tempura and bacon-dusted fries that were once a heavenly delight but are now just a fond memory. Time flies, but the taste of those dishes will forever linger in my mind!

🌽🍅🥒 I stopped by Deering Oaks Park Farmers Market yesterday afternoon and it was a delight! 🌿 I found husk cherries, an assortment of cherry tomatoes, candy cane beets, sweet corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, pickled vegetables, and chicken. I’ve already got into the pickled carrots and husk cherries because I just couldn’t wait! 🛍️✨ 🍅

This afternoon, I had the pleasure of meeting up with one of my favorite people and indulging in a delightful feast of Hard Cider Mussels at Boone's. We couldn't resist ordering an abundance of their warm griddle bread to soak up the incredibly flavorful broth.

🍓 I thought that strawberry season was over! Kevin picked these Taste of the North strawberries from Rosemont Market and Bakery tonight, they taste just as good as our locally grown strawberries that are currently out of season. I thought that I was going to have to wait another year for good-tasting strawberries!
