🌭 HOTDOG 🌭 Hotdog is a game that is tag-focused but with a twist. Once the skater is tagged, they lie on the ground and two other skaters have to slide either side of the tagged skater to be released and able to skate again. Why do we play hotdog? 🌭 Sub-consciously accelerating and slowing down 🌭 Skaters stop and fall over on purpose 🌭 Skaters turn corners and dodge the tagger 🌭 Skaters have fun whilst learning! We have Georgia @therealwhero to thank for bringing this to our program as it is used as a roller derby game ✨🩷

Adult Classes every Friday night!
Check out our adults skating class tonight! Warm up: Bubbles Skill 1: One foot balance skills (Flamingo, Chair, Glide, Ship, Donuts) Skill 2: Low moves (bobs, shoot the ducks, cabbages) These classes are open to those aged 13+ and beginner friendly! Precision Skating
Our Thursday class at Heathcote Primary are an incredible bunch of kids! They give everything and anything a go 💛🩷 This is called a “Spoke”, like the inside of a bike wheel. Look how fast they’re going for a first go!

Six weeks of Sumner Roll-Outs for this half of 2024 ☀️ 🗓️ Put it in your diary that Thursday 14th of March we will be Skating for Pride to show our support and commitment to our LGBTQA+ friends in Ōtautahi 🛼 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ 🌻 Sumner Roll-Outs 🗓️ Thursdays ⏰ Meet outside the Beach Bar from 6pm, leaving 6:30pm 🍻 Drinks & chippies post-skate at the Beach Bar 🛼 Confident beginner level friendly. There are a number of textures to skate over (asphalt, concrete, bricks) and rumble lines to step over. No roads but there is a car park to navigate to get to the path. YOU ARE NEVER TOO OLD TO LEARN NEW THINGS 💛🩷
When I was 12 I switched from Free Skating (jumps & spins) to Solo Dance (turns & steps in time with the music) because I was too scared to jump off the ground, or spin quickly! Now that I understand how to teach free skating & have skaters wanting to learn, I gotta practice what I preach! I was never taught how to do a back outside spin (spinning around your little toe wheel) & that is now my goal for 2024 - 3+ rotations of an OB spin. The learning never stops for skaters & their coaches 💛🩷 #rollerskating #artistic #christchurch
