Today's Question: "My 11 year old wants to play travel basketball, but it’s a really big time commitment for our family and his siblings, and it’s something we really can’t afford. How do we say “no” knowing it’s going to be difficult for him relationally with his friends and just in general because he really wants to?"
Being a parent is HARD! Whether you’re working through behavior struggles or trying to hold boundaries with love, I’m here if you need additional support.
I have an exciting opportunity headed your way in November, Chippewa Valley! If you or someone in your home struggles with anxiety, Brainspotting can be extremely beneficial in decreasing it. Please check out the flyer, and let me know if you'd like to schedule an in-person session with me!

It seems difficult to look at this list and not see importance in teaching our kids ALL of these skills. And at the same time, that seems really daunting! Days can quickly pass us by, so it’s important to be intentional. If I have a desire to teach my daughter financial literacy, I’m going to need to be intentional in finding time to teach her how to budget. If I want my son to have organizational skills, I may need to set aside time each week to help him organize his homework or room cleaning tasks.
Overall, one of the best ways we can teach our children important life skills is to model them in our own lives. Behavior is caught, so we need to model the skills we believe are important our kids have. Try choosing one or two skills on this list that you want to focus on over the next month and see what progress you can make! If you need some encouragement or help, send me a message.
Sometimes kids aren’t able to put words to what it is that’s bothering them, and that’s okay! With Brainspotting, kids are able to process situations or issues that are on their minds without having to talk about it. If you’re in Chippewa Falls, Eau Claire, Altoona, or the surrounding area, I am starting in-person Brainspotting sessions in November. Please use the link below to schedule an appointment today!

Today's Question: "What signs should I look for if I suspect my child is struggling with mental health issues?"
If you believe your child is struggling with their mental health, have an open conversation with them, and begin normalizing talk therapy and seeking help from a professional.
Struggling with anxiety, feeling stuck, or overwhelmed? Come see me on Mondays in-person for brainspotting, which allows your brain to process and release the root causes of anxiety and stress.

Today's Question: "I struggle to talk about hard or uncomfortable topics with my teen. How can I create open communication with my teenager?"
Many parents struggle to talk about uncomfortable topics (s*x, menstruation, or puberty, etc.), so you’re not alone. Here are a couple of ideas of how to bring them up to make them less intimidating for our teens and us!
Happy National Bathtub Day!!
As busy caregivers, it's easy to forget about our self-care amidst the chaos. Today’s the perfect reminder to slow down and indulge in a well-deserved, soothing bath. Light some candles, drop in your favorite bath bomb, and let the stress melt away for a few peaceful moments.
Self-care isn’t selfish—it’s necessary. Recharging helps us be our best for our little ones! So take a deep breath, enjoy some "me time," and soak it all in. You’ve earned it!
Smiles are powerful! Whether it's sharing a goofy grin with your kids or finding joy in those everyday moments, smiles have the power to lift spirits and brighten days.
Take a moment today to spread some extra smiles—whether it's with your children, your partner, or even a stranger at the grocery store. You never know how much your smile could mean to someone!

Today's Question: "I work from home - how do I manage work and family life effectively, especially in the summer or holiday breaks, when my kids are home?"
A lot depends on the age of your children, but here is my system for helping my upper elementary through high school kids to focus while I’m working. If you have questions, send them my way - I’d love to answer them!
Today's Question: "My partner and I don’t agree on how much screen time the kids should have. The kids know which parent will say yes to screens and which one won’t. How do we get on the same page?"
This is extremely common, because we all come from different life experiences and upbringings that shape how we parent. Today I’m giving you a couple of ideas of how to navigate this challenge specifically around the topic of screens.
If you find yourself wanting to talk more about your specific situation, schedule a brainstorming session and we can discuss a couple of situations in your family that are challenging and try to find some practical ideas to implement.

Happy National Daughters Day!
To my two incredible daughters - watching you grow, learn, and blossom into your unique, beautiful selves fills my heart such pride and joy. Every laugh, every challenge, and every sweet moment with you is a gift. You inspire me daily to be the best version of myself.
Being a daughter myself, I understand the depth of love, patience, and connection that comes with this special bond. I’m so grateful for my own mother’s love and guidance, which continues to shape who I am today.
Happy National Family Day! Every family looks different - some have biological, adopted, or stepchildren; some have two moms, two dads, or a mom & a dad, or just one parent; some have grandparents or aunts & uncles who are caregivers. Whatever the makeup of your family, take some time today to appreciate what makes your family unique. Maybe write each person a quick little note letting them know how thankful you are to be in their family and something you love about them.
Caring for kids is so much more than just meeting their physical needs. It means nurturing their emotional well-being and advocating for their needs, all while ensuring their safety. If you find yourself in a challenging place and need some support, I’m here and only a message away. Thank you for all you do to care for the kids in your lives!

Today's Question: "My kid says, 'What will I get if I’m good at the store?' or other things that involve rewards. I’m tired of having material things tied to everything he does. What are some non-material ways to reward good behavior?"
It is easy to monetize expected behaviors and can be difficult to backtrack, but here are a couple of ideas to help give kids choices within your parameters. Send me a message if you’d like to talk for an hour about your specific situation!
