Things good and bad will happen of course, but what our life amounts to is a matter of what we become within.
This within is the arena of spiritual formation and later transformation.
What is in our hearts matter most for who we will become and what will become of us.
-Renovation of the Heart
This book is deep and it’s only the introduction😂, but I’m reminded that this is what HeartWork is, working on our character to build character in our family.

It’s a new week. Let’s go!
Your children are not the inconvenience in your day.
Almost missed a moment in being busy about myself. As intentional as I try to be it is still very easy to miss out because I’m being “productive”
A reminder of myself to be more present and in tune to the moments around me.
One day your kids will be grown up. End of story. Why then are we in such a hurry for our kids to be responsible adults. Let them be kids, let them have fun, and be silly.
Life wil inevitably require more for them and they will grow up. The question is will they be able to move forward and embrace life or look back with a longing that they never got to be kid.

Are you building YOUR Kingdom or GOD'S Kingdom?
Please don't misunderstand me, this isn't meant to bring condemnation.
It is a question we have to ask ourselves because we are the only ones that can answer it.
I am 100% guilty of trying to build MY kingdom. I want to live a comfortable life, I want to have security so I don't have to worry.
But what good is it if I lose my marriage and my family. What good is it if I die tomorrow and didn't spend the time I had with the ones I love most?

Don't build your home on sand. The most important thing you can do is build the foundation and that foundation starts in your heart.

Your words matter. They can build up or tear down.
A question I will ask my kids when they say something hurtful is “Did you build them up, or tear them down?”
Honestly as adults we/I need to ask that same question.
It’s funny that as I lead my family, God
will often convict me of the same thing.
Parenting is a sanctifying journey, and as we parent our kids God parents us.
