Good roads and safe bridges. Making it in America means you can make your own decisions about when to have a baby. Making it in America means that you can breathe clean air and drink clean water. Make it in America means our first responders receive the investment that they need. Making it in America means you can afford health care when illness strikes. Making it in America means you can rely on Medicare and Social Security benefits to be there when you need them. Making it in America means our farmers will have the support they need to be competitive and successful. Making it in America means that you can trust that your democracy will protect your rights from extremists.)
Steven Holden Fireside Chat: First Responders
Before serving in the US Army for 22 years, I received a Criminal Justice degree in rural Oklahoma. So, I know the importance of giving law enforcement the resources they need. As Rep for #NY24, I'll introduce the First Responder Investment Act to bolster the resources of police and all first responders so we can lower deaths in the most volatile encounters they face. We also need a revolution in the support of mental health intervention programs.
Had a great conversation with Pete Dominick about the economic issues on voters' minds heading into the election. We must hold multinational corporations accountable for their price-gouging, which drives prices up for all of us.

I grew up on my grandparents' dairy farm. I know the challenges farmers face, and I pledge to fight for our family farmers once in Congress. I will introduce the Family Farm Restoration Act to break up the big ag monoplies to give our family farms a fighting chance.

Like so many Republicans, Dick feels his party has abandoned him and that Claudia Tenney is far too extreme. During our #NY24 debate last week, I made clear my unwavering support for reproductive freedom. As Congressman, I will vote to codify Roe v Wade into law, because I refuse to go back and allow women to be treated as second class citizens. My opponent Claudia Tenney co-sponsored a bill that would define life beginning at conception. She wants to criminalize women and girls for exercising their reproductive rights and thinks politicians should be making their health decisions for them. Tenney is too extreme for NY. When Claudia Tenney voted against the PACT Act, which would provide needed healthcare for our veterans, it was a slap in the face to me and my fellow vets. I served 22 years in the U.S. Army. I'm a customer of the VA. As the Rep. for #NY24, I'll never turn my back on our nation's veterans.

Steven Holden on Violence Against Women
When I think about laws that are no brainers, my first thought is the Violence Against Women Act. Every single one of us has women in our lives and, if you pay attention, women are vulnerable, everywhere.
Someone I'd expect to know this is Representative Claudia Tenney, who voted against VAWA twice because to her, protecting a domestic abuser's access to guns is more important than protecting women from domestic abuse.
