It’s hard to believe the Anoka County fair is already halfway over! I’ve spent a lot of time volunteering in the 4-H Food Booth, hand stitching in the camper, and hanging out with friends. It has been such nice weather too!

I received an outstanding creative arts exhibit ribbon for the guitar strap I entered in the 4-H building. Praise God! Thanks .richert for letting me enter it!

Myself and other 4-Hers still have some items for sale at the Clover Shop, check it out in the 4-H building!

I was going to start this post off by saying, “what a week!” But I realize the next week has already started and it’s going to get even crazier… So… what a month!

I spent this past week tooling and prepping wallets, sunglasses cases, checkbook covers, and more to be stitched this week during the Anoka County Fair.

I’m packing up this morning, and let me tell ya… I’m wishing for a pack mule for all this stuff🫏.

Today I gotta swing in to a clients house to pick up their guitar strap for exhibiting, then it’s off to the county fair for 4-H judging this evening!

Tomorrow, the county fair will open its gates and I am so excited!! If you come to the fair, be sure to stop in the 4-H building and look at all the insanely creative and intelligent exhibits made my Anoka 4-Her’s. Check out The Clover Shop as well, they are selling items made by 4-Her’s, including my handmade leather snap bracelets!

I’ve been quiet all week, both because I’ve had a cold AND I’ve been at the workbench a ton. BUT even though I forgot to show y’all, we’ve got so much good stuff happening over here! Lots of leather on the workbench getting ready for the Big Iron Classic in September, including this piece for a handmade semi center console.

My parents sent me this picture: the top is their 2 YEAR OLD cast iron pot handle cover, the bottom is their brand new cast iron pot handle cover.

The 2 year old handle cover has developed character over time, and it still works just as well as it did on day 1!

4th of July recap🇺🇸

Owen and I had a fun time this weekend!

We spent Thursday - Saturday at the lake with friends swimming, tubing, water skiiing, and fishing. We hosted Bible study on the pontoon on Friday night while we watched the storm roll in🙈.

I discovered my dog, Z, is a mermaid at heart. She would just stand in the water for hours on end. 🧜‍♀️

Saturday was the farmers market! As usual it was so fun seeing everybody there! I headed back to the lake to cool off after as it got prettttty hot.

Sunday Owen and I took a little road trip to pick up 2 goats. We stopped in St Cloud for Dominos, and let me tell you the workers at this Dominos were so amazing! 10/10 recommend the Dominos on Ridgewood Road. 🍕

I even snuck a little leatherwork in this weekend🤫sometimes I get an idea and I just gotta make it happen right then and there 🤣

I’m feeling very blessed to have good friends and freedoms🤍

This was a cool project!

Last year for Christmas, one of my brothers gifted my other brother a knife made out of a railroad spike.

I held onto the knife until earlier this June, when I made a sheath for it for his birthday.

It was a fun full circle moment giving a gift made with love, by hand from both his siblings.

I may like the gambling man esthetic, but you can bet those cards equal 14 points in cribbage. ♥️♣️♦️♠️

When I see photos of a bride holding beautiful flowers with a western tooled leather bouquet wrap, it always reminds me of 🤍🐴

I had such a great time last night at my first Headwaters Leather Guild meeting! I got to meet some amazing people, it was such a blessing to connect with others who share my love for leather. Plus, I learned a ton! One of the members, Johan, gave two informative demos about applying gold leaf on leather and using a beeswax punch board. This is a picture of the gold leaf. I’m excited to try it out sometime!

I had a great Sunday down in Eden Prairie attending Jim Linnell’s Advanced Floral Carving Workshop. The day was jam-packed with lots of learning and talking with fellow leatherworkers. It was so refreshing to make new connections and get to know other leatherworkers in the state! Plus, I loved all the talk about getting 4-H youth more involved with leather craft.

Thank you to Jim Linnell for coming to share your expertise and fun stories! And thanks to those who organized this event! I look forward to applying all the new skills and techniques I learned in my future projects.
