Leather Brick Series for a Bag, 2022

The work is a three-dimensional space composed of leather, which the artist recognized as a medium that constitutes a two-dimensional space. The artist ( ) paid attention to the different points of material’s characters such as the colors and the features of surfaces from each side of the leather and she intersected them to reveal the various properties of leather. The artist cut the thin leather into the same width and piled up the layers one by one to complete a structure from the base to the top as if the bag were a single structure likewise a wall of the building.

Heritage, 2022

The works of the “Heritage” series are inspired by the heritage line, which is the foundation of Louis Quatorze brand design. It claims a style called ‘sculpture painting’ by simplifying the unique design of the heritage line and adding paintings to the surface like graffiti so that the combined result of both sculpture like bag and graffiti like painting create ‘sculpture painting’ style.

The Rajikon Series was created by Sang-hyun Cho () using several keywords found in the Louis Quatorze brand which includes France, tradition, classics, craftsmanship, South Korea, culture, subculture, and low-tech. He categorized those keywords into gender and generation to reinterpret culture for creating ‘Boys’ series. Among the many elements of boy culture, such as hip-hop, skateboards, moped gangs, and cars the artist was attracted to the radio-controlled cars (RC Cars) from 80’s and 90’s. He was boldly enough to borrow the design and manufacturing techniques of the RC cars to break away from the typical design of women's handbags with his design experiment.

Designer Sang-hyun Cho(), who runs the design studio HITENCHO, uses various materials and mechanical devices to plan the process of making works and constantly tries to create new things of his own.

Artist Eun-Ha Kim create new pieces by recycling fashion industry waste. She produces the new works include ‘Fragments of Nature’, ’Grapefruit’, ‘Kiwi’ and ‘Pomegranate’ by re-using the leftover from LOUIS QUATORZE such as the metal chains, discarded clothes and their labels within her new nature inspired design.

Eun-Ha Kim (.zip) creates her work originate from the up-cycling old clothes discarded with fast fashion. She exhibited her work colorful objects made by printing and using the texture of clothes. Recently, she is working on reinterpreting the design from nature.

The ‘Tactile Object, Natural (2022)’ unravels the shape of the bag which makes the audience engaging to tactile experience. Through this experience, it allows the audience to understand the work using not only their eyes but also various senses and it becomes an amplifying agent that leads to a variety of senses beyond a simple visual experience.

Artist Jun-Su Kim has been working on moulding, focusing on the materiality and symbolism of vegetable-tanned leather. His career has continued various exhibition activities in South Korea and Europe since participating in Italy's leather workshop.
