Often times, we think we just need to love ourselves/ body more….🤷🏼‍♀️We want you to know that if you don’t, it’s ok…and normal (and honestly unrealistic to set that expectation of yourself)! ⁠What if we told you “loving” your body was NOT actually the goal? ⁠ And RESPECT was! ⁠Having bad body image moments is very different than feel ashamed ALL THE TIME . Those moments are normal, and expected. But being ashamed of your body is something picked up from Diet Culture. ⁠Feeling ok, and good enough, is a place we should strive to be! You can make/ buy a cake or cupcakes and eat it, even if it’s not your birthday! 🧁🧁🧁 I remember hearing this and thinking, “yeah, right?” Then, my second thought was “YEAH RIGHT!!!” Have you ever over indulged in something because you weren’t sure when you’d have it again? Our over indulged and weren’t sure why? In many cases it’s the restriction, physically or mentally that is the culprit! 👏🏼 Gentle reframe or reminder, you have permission to eat, what and when you want. People are usually starting a diet with a poor relationship with food and body. There's a lot of shame involved as well. We hate that people feel this way and want to show you that you can approach health a different way, from a place of self-care. There's work that needs to be done with how you think and feel before you can really make progress and intuitive eating is an evidenced-based way to help you. You have to really try it (do the thought work and self-reflection tools) to see progress.
