The different places your singer can position themselves in the church... Generally speaking there are three - 1. Near the altar 2. Up in the gallery 3. At the back of the church (or half way down aisle) This video was taken in Kildavin Church in Carlow a couple of weeks ago.. It's a small country church with no gallery and no room at the top of the aisle so the musicians set up at the back of the church. Every church will have it's designated spot. My preference is usually the gallery, as the sound tends to travel best from up there in most churches.. and I have a bird's-eye view of all the goings on 🙂 In a larger church the gallery can seem miles away in which case I'd set up near the altar, if that's ok with your priest.. But it was so lovely to get to see the bridal party and the bride make their grand entrance in Kildavin, being so close to the action would be rare 🩷 you can see me making eye contact and smiling as they start to come in.. the bride was emotional and you'll see me close my eyes at this point, trying to keep it together!! 😆 'Can't help falling in love' .. The final Episode of the second LovedUp Series... #sniffle I don't really know where to start with this song.... What I CAN say is this was the only song of the Series that took a few takes.. Why? Because muggins here couldn't hold it together 🙈 I can't sing without connecting to a song emotionally, it's part and parcel for me.. I sing from my soul, it's who I am.. I've to sometimes remind myself when I'm singing at weddings and funerals - "I'm here in a professional capacity, I'm here in a professional capacity".. because naturally, be it a happy or heartbreaking event, emotions can be high, and tears are never far.. And who wants the singer crying mid song?! 🙃 There are a handful of songs that I really struggle with keeping the 'performance switch' firmly on.. and this is one of those songs.. It was beautifully written by Ryan O'Neal (of 'Sleeping at last') for the movie 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1'. For any fans out there, #teamedward , it was written from Edward's perspective.. and used for Bella's Entrance.. For years I've been so surprised it's not a more popular choice at Irish ceremonies...
