Congratulations are in order for Robin Wenneker as she assumes the role of Chair for the University of Missouri Board of Curators. Curator Wenneker is a champion for education and also for Missouri agriculture. She shares an abundance of knowledge regarding the issues that move our state forward and we wish her the best of luck in her new role.
On this day, we honor all who have answered the call of our great nation. Thank You to our courageous service members both past and present for their sacrifice to maintain freedom for all.
National Farmer’s Day is an opportunity to celebrate current and future generations of Missouri farm families that produce food, fuel, and fiber for the world. These hard working men and women stop at nothing to provide the safest, most abundant, most affordable food supply possible.
Today we take time to remember the tragic loss of life and heroics that occurred 22 years ago on this fateful morning. Each of us can recall exactly where we stood on September 11, 2001. The ensuing days that included search and rescue efforts brought about some of our greatest moments as a nation.
The tragedy of 9/11 reminds us that each day is a gift, not a guarantee, and we are all stronger together.
Today, We Remember
had a great night in Peach Orchard Thanks to the support of the Missouri Soybean Association, our legislative friends, and supporters of common sense conservatism from around the state. A special thanks goes out to Ryan Gill for not only organizing the event, but serving some of the finest shrimp boil north of Bayon Rouge!
This week, The Missouri Soybean Association is teaming up with two outstanding public servants in the Bootheel region! 🤝
Join us for a unique opportunity to advocate, network, and engage with both state and federal leaders. 🌱🗣️

Part-Time Grain Samplers - Flexible Shifts The Grain Inspection and Warehousing Division has several seasonal Grain Sampler positions available in the southeast Missouri area. Employees in this position are expected to have reliable transportation to the office in New Madrid, but will have access to a state vehicle for transportation to work sites from there.
With many Missouri families getting kids ready to go back to school this week, the inevitable drawdown of summer is upon us. I hope you have had the opportunity during this hot summer season to spend much cherished time with loved ones as I have.
These past few weeks serving as your state Senator have proven both busy and productive, as well as particularly challenging with news of the Dexter-Tyson plant closure. The unforeseen and sudden news of this closing has jolted us for now, but it is within moments like this that we need to take a look at what truly always made the plant operate successfully, the people. We have suffered before and found ways to adapt and overcome, and I know with the tremendous spirit of our workforce we will overcome this hurdle as well, no matter how difficult it may be.
We can see the very best of our people when we look to our children and their visions for a better tomorrow. It was in the eyes of kids braving the heat showing great pride in their livestock at the Ripley County Fair last week. It was everywhere at the 3rd Annual Bridging the Gap with Lincoln University and our wonderful Missouri ag organizations in Malden earlier this summer. Our people have a will that is unmatched, and I intend to spend the remainder of my days as your state Senator fighting for opportunities in the 25th district.
It is now important as ever that we exhaust all efforts to bring modern infrastructure and development to Southeast Missouri. With the rapid expansion of broadband internet, we must capitalize on significant opportunities such as working with our federal partners on projects like expanding the I-57 footprint in Missouri, and attracting more state of the art production facilities like Carlisle Manufacturing.
One of the great honors I am tasked with as your Senator is to represent Missouri at a variety of conferences across our great nation. These events bring in experts and identify economic trends seeking ways to improve our communities. At each of these events I am reminded how fortunate we are as Missourians, but furthermore how very fortunate I am to represent the 25th district.
We have much work before us that will certainly take time, but inflation and direct income concerns are immediate for many families in the 25th District right now. With harvest around the corner, local manufacturers in search of help and a variety of other employment vacancies, I want to use my office to help facilitate displaced workers find gainful employment opportunities. I ask that any area employers, big or small, reach out to my office if you have employment needs that are going unmet.

Happy 4th of July to all who are enjoying this hot day in the 25th Senate District! Independence Day is the best time to reflect on the sacrifice and courage required for us to enjoy the individual freedom and liberty that makes our nation a beacon of hope for the world.
Greenville did an excellent job hosting the 4th of July Parade, great turnout! I wish everyone a safe and fun weekend celebrating our beloved Independence.
Congratulations are in order for Carlisle Construction Materials on their brand new, state of the art facility on the south edge of Sikeston in New Madrid County. This facility is the product of years worth of collaborative efforts and I want to thank all that made today possible. Together, Missouri is always stronger!
It was a warm, yet very enjoyable evening visiting with constituents in Mississippi County tonight. The annual Sweet Corn Festival in East Prairie is a must if you have never been! This years turnout was incredible and the vendors did a wonderful job providing quality items.
I want to wish all those riding in the 22nd Annual Tour De Corn tomorrow morning a safe and enjoyable ride and hope you enjoy your time in the 25th district.
As always, it is an honor to represent the 25th district and the very best Missouri has to offer.
This week's special guest will be Sen. Jason Bean

Senator Bean is back on the farm, logging hours on the tractor and on the combine following an eventful session in Jefferson City. He took a few minutes to talk about some of the highlights on the 2023 session.
Congratulations are in order for the City of Bloomfield as they broke ground today on the new fire station. Many hours went into planning to make this updated facility a reality. With enhanced capacity to make the call when catastrophic events occur, this will increase public safety for the surrounding area.
Today we remember the heroic efforts of those brave Americans that seventy-nine years ago today catapulted the US involvement in WWII, leading a path to liberate the Western Front for Allied Powers. Their sacrifice and courage shaped the course of the world for the better and we will forevermore remember June 6, 1944 as D-Day.
This Memorial Day and every day we remember the tremendous sacrifice required of those that provide for the foundational security of our nation. We may never express enough gratitude for their selflessness.
Today and everyday, we commend the incredible ladies that provide so much to each of our families. Happy Mother’s Day to all!
As regular legislative session for 2023 draws to a close, I am once again reminded of what a distinct privilege and honor it is to represent the 25th District. Though we didn’t accomplish all that we set out for, session was both eventful and productive in terms of getting bills to the Governor’s desk and garnering funding to meet in-district needs.
I was happy to sponsor SB56 finally establishing a hands-free law to decrease distracted driving. After seeing and hearing from far too many families that have lost the most precious elements of their lives, it was apparent the time to move on the legislation was now. Missouri is one of only two states (Montana) that doesn’t have a texting and driving bill in place. We have seen far too many victims lose their life to the these very avoidable accidents.
Another very important piece of legislation that I was proud to co-sponsor with my Republican colleagues established guidelines for student participation in athletic contests organized by s*x, and modified provisions relating to public funding of gender transition procedures: Missouri Save Adolescents from Experimentation (SAFE) Act. Missourians have stood on this issue overwhelmingly and I am happy we could deliver a solution. As this issue evolves, Republicans will remain diligent to ensure we protect our children.
SB139 establishes the “Stars and Stripes Historic Region” in Southeast Missouri. The very first Stars & Stripes newspaper was written in Bloomfield, Mo during the civil war. This bill will help spur tourism and highlight some of the historic elements of our of region, at no cost the the state. I was also able to pass the Waterways and Ports Trust Fund. The 25th is uniquely positioned alongside the Mississippi River and that allows for tremendous ability to transport our ag goods. These ports are critical to attaining new industry to the region. My SB555 passed on another senate bill, establishing the “Health Professional Loan Repayment Program”. This program will help attract medical professionals into rural areas by offering incentives to help with their student loan debt, but candidates are only eligible after satisfying work requirements for a given amount of time (relevant to their profession). SCR8 finally established Campbell, Missouri as the rightful designation of Peach Capitol of Missouri.
None of this would be possible without the work of my incredible staff, and I am blessed with the best. These roles aren’t easy and it truly takes a team to get priorities across the line. I can’t thank Ryan G. Gill and Jackie Buschjost enough for their dedication and professionalism.
Once again, it an absolute honor to serve you. This role is humbling & difficult, however the opportunity to bring about a better day for Missourians pushes me to get better and do all that I can. I’m ready to get home to my family and pick up on some much needed farming, and I hope to see you out and about over the interim.
Thank You,
Jason
Yesterday, Senator Bean was surprised by his colleagues in the House of Representatives with a tribute to his father, the late Representative Otto Bean, Jr., and kind words from Majority Floor Leader Representative Jonathan Patterson. When he told his Senate colleagues about the tribute paid by the House, they gave the senator's late father another round of ovation.
The entire Bean family appreciates the recognition of Otto Bean, Jr.'s legacy of service to Missouri. Thank you.
2023 Legislative Session - Day Seventy - Wednesday, May 10 - Morning
It’s always great to see people from in-district at the Capitol, but it’s even better to start the week off welcoming State Champions! The New Madrid County Central Boys Basketball Team won the Missouri Class 3 State Championship this month after defeating Lutheran North in finals play. The Eagles were a treat to host and I want to commend the dedication and determination required to bring this championship home to SEMO.
I can’t say enough about the dedication our First Lady Teresa Parson shows for these JAG students. Thank You for the opportunity to share in visiting with local programs today. The 25th district is grateful for all of the teachers and class leaders that make this wonderful program a success.
Today I had the distinct honor of introducing two exceptional ladies on the Senate floor, and presented them with well deserved awards for their tremendous achievements.
Patricia Jo Boyers of Poplar Bluff received recognition for her pioneering efforts in the cable industry. With over 44 years of experience in the telecommunications business, she has successfully navigated rapidly evolving technologies and served in numerous leadership roles at both federal and state levels to develop sound policy for the industry. Patty currently serves as President & CEO of BOYCOM Cablevision. As further evidence of her incredible capabilities, when she isn’t working on telecom matters she is an agriculturalist and oversees a 155 head cow-calf operation on the family ranch.
Anetha “Eky” Combs is a lifelong resident of Kennett, and an integral member of her community. Since childhood Eky has been a member and actively involved in the Girl Scouts; achieving their highest honor, the “Thanks Badge”. Eky developed a GED program for incarcerated individual in Dunklin County where she taught for over 20 years and remains incredibly active in the First United Methodist Church. As an example of her caring nature and willingness to enhance the lives of others, she carefully tends a garden and takes flowers to local nursing homes and shut-ins weekly.
These ladies embody the best characteristics that make Missouri such a wonderful place, and I am honored to take part in recognizing their efforts.
Today marks the start of the second half of legislative session in the Missouri General Assembly. It has been a busy and productive first half, but there is much work to be done in the weeks ahead. We must ensure conservative priorities are passed to make Missouri the strongest economical player that we can.
I was able to spend a great deal of time with constituents all across the 25th district over break. Hearing from constituents is the lifeblood of our office and I take great pride in representing the very best Missouri has to offer.
Ripley County is hard at work on seeing through projects for new facilities and it was great to sit down with their elected officials to see where we can be of assistance. I want to commend their excellent National Wild Turkey Federation banquet I was able to attend alongside Rep Atchison. They do a tremendous job engaging our youth in the outdoors!
The 5th annual Earthquake Summit at the Mizzou Fisher Delta REEC in Portageville was packed with vital information and strategic planning efforts in the event of a major earthquake along the New Madrid fault line. Preparation and communication will be key if we are ever faced with what we in the Bootheel refer to as ”The Big One”. We hope it never occurs but no matter how calamitous it may be, I know the people of Southeast Missouri will work together to do the very best we can.
The annual Friends of The NRA banquet in Kennett was a great event as always. I want to commend the folks that work hard each year to make this banquet a success. The Second Amendment is about much more than hunting and it is imperative that we protect our right to defend the life and wellbeing of ourselves and loved ones.
As always, it’s a tremendous honor to get to work for you and I can’t wait to finish the second half of session strong!
Please join Team Bean in wishing Senator Bean a happy birthday!
