: Upcoming Ngāpuhi roadshow all about reconnecting uri to their whakapapa
Te Rūnanga-a-Iwi o Ngāpuhi is hitting the road to promote whakapapa with its “Āpiti Hono Tātai Hono” roadshow. Rūnanga chair Mane Tahere, says the aim is to reconnect whānau living all over Aotearoa, to their Ngāpuhitanga. The roadshow starts in Kaikohe in September, and will travel as far south as Christchurch. Mane Tahere says with 70% of Ngāpuhi under the age of 25, and most living outside te rohe o Ngāpuhi, a call to action, whanaungatanga, and whakapapa is necessary.

Hei puru i te toto, hei pupuru i te mana Māori motuhake!
Ihumātao ho!
Today marks 5 years since the occupation at Ihumātao. Still some really raw moments for the whanau of Ihumātao, people of the occupation and Tangata Whenua o Aotearoa. People from all over the nation came to stand in solidarity for the wrong that Fletcher buildings tried to enforce.
This is where our kaupapa started. Not once did i think that kākahu would be the vehicle that carries our kaupapa through to where it is now but here we are 5 years later still going hard. The goal is clear, to create a kaupapa that feeds back into our people. To create a kaupapa that allows us to live in our own rangatiratanga. We are here, doing it.
Although the land is back in iwi hands, the fight still continues. We must stand strong, we must stay united, for oyr people, for our whenua, for our culture.
