ANNOUNCEMENT ‼️ We are dropping our first new collab piece for our new kaupapa “Moko Te Ao” tomorrow and we excited to share it with you all 💯 The idea behind this kaupapa “Moko te Ao” is to collab with current moko artists and design an exclusive merch piece that we will sell both online and in store. All proceeds from “Moko Te Ao” collabs will go into a puna that will help with moko wānanga, up and coming artists, mokopapa and all things that contribute towards the growth and success of moko. We want to make it so that Moko is accessible for our tamariki that want to become moko artists, we don’t want putea to be a barrier to running a wānanga. This is our way of giving back to our people 🖤🤍❤️ We will be collaborating with other artists to change up the merch drops but here’s to our first artist @dayo.nativearts Whakarite kia rite e te iwi, dropping tomorrow both online and in stores. KURA WHAKAREA 2024 He kura wiwini, he kura wawana, he kura whakarea! What an absolute honour and privilege to be part of the first cohort of Kura Whakarea 2024 where we learnt so much about home ownership, financial literacy, investment, financial strategies, Māori land, sharsies, koura, pakihi, you name it we had it, but even better from a Māori perspective! We were all winning!! So many positives from this kaupapa and I feel far more confident in what I’m doing in working towards my version of freedom, taku tinorangatiratanga. OLDIE BUT A GOODY!! Kura Collection 1.0 This was our very first collection that was very much a kura for us. It taught us the first steps to business from designing to marketing, e-commerce to xero and all the way back again and most importantly how to connect with our people. We have watched this collection enable our people to connect to Te Āo Māori, stand tall and be proud to be Māori and share the connection they have with the kaupapa of AKE AKE AKE. Such an empowering movement for US as Māori. This collection honours our whenua fighters that have come before us, without those movers and shakers of Te Āo Māori - kaupapa like this would not be here driving us today. We were honoured and privileged yesterday to be attend this amazing kaupapa at Ngāti Whātua Marae, Tumutumuwhenua. We sat and reflected with the Champions of the land occupation at Takaparawhau 45 years ago to that day (25th May, 2023). The kōrero heard was rich in history, feelings and emotions were very raw and real and without our Nannie’s there would’ve been no party at all 🫶🏽 Nō reira e ngā rangatira ō Ngāti Whātua, nei rā mātou e mihi kau ana ki a kōutou mo te kōunga o te rā nei!
