After a month of sea mist, the light and wind were on our side today and it was great to get out drone shooting with the wonderful Carla Regler Photography on stunning locations for a series of films we're delighted to be making for Uist Unearthed. Uist Unearthed's fabulous mixed-media exhibition with AR and VR headsets is visiting the British Museum tomorrow and can be seen in the Sackler Room before heading to Eilean Dorcha Festival next week. The App is free to download and has a brilliant range of material to bring the exceptional archaeology on Uist to life.

Landing at Uisinish
We’ve been holed up editing. The rough cut is now complete for the 3 x 1 hour docs about traditional life on South Uist for MG ALBA. The drone shoot at Uisinis, where Dreumasdal Sheep Stock Club’s old fank and shepherds’ bothy are, was one of the many memorable days. First of all that rare thing: no wind. After a 1.5 hour boat journey to get to the back of the hill, there was expert handling to get the kit and crew on shore. A successful days filming was followed by free dinner. Bonus!

Greylag:Corn:Crofter
Our documentary film "Greylag:Corn:Crofter" has been shot over several years, charting the crofting calendar on the township where I live. Earlier this week I was filming one of the last sequences before we start editing next week. There's a short section shown here. Uist is one of the only places in the British Isles, and probably in Europe, where a binder might still be used to harvest the corn seed crop.
