Lovely video from Zander Taylor ❤️

If you were to do one thing for Irish Wildlife, please let this be it . . . Please ask to speak to a representative of Malcolm Noonan and ask if the NPWS will be accepting the ruling which will allow for payment of fines instead of a conviction under Irish Wildlife legislation or the European Habitats directive. ⚠️‼️Graphic Content Warning ‼️⚠️ ‼️This video is both distressing and upsetting ‼️ This badger was recently snared by the Department of Agriculture in Co. Cork It was struggling for so long that it managed to dislodge the metal rod to which the snare is attached. It suffered an agonising death. The landowner had not given permission for snares to be set. Two thirds of Irish people want a complete ban on snares, yet the Department of Agriculture set thousands every night. Six billion euro has been spent on Ireland’s failed Bovine TB eradication policy, whilst creating a cottage industry based on old wives tales. Bovine TB is higher than it has ever been, yet money and greed now set the agenda. Meanwhile in Scotland, policy is based on Science, they have been free of Bovine TB for years, without harming wildlife. In Ireland, Department of Agriculture vets are contracted to carry out a “Gross Visual Inspection Only” of badgers that have been snared. Therefore no snare damage is documented. Internal injuries are not recorded. Wire cutting through skin, not recorded. Badgers such as this one, found dead in snare, not recorded. Pregnant badgers snared, not recorded. For the purposes of an NPWS review, it must appear that snares cause no damage. No evidence must be recorded. “A Gross Visual Inspection Only” Ireland, shame on you 🇮🇪 Please share Stand with Badgers

At Stand with Badgers, we are in a strong position when it comes to offering advice and support to rehabbers right across the UK and Ireland. Our strength and depth of knowledge comes not from any one individual or group, but from the collective international experience and expertise across myriad badger groups, rehabbers and Vets. Badgers without Borders, centered on your selfless community spirit ❤️ 🏥🦡. The Irish badger in this video had yet to reach his first birthday. He was admitted to one of our most experienced rehabbers. Whilst we were in agreement that the issue was most likely a head trauma or brain injury, we sent this video onto the expert veterinary team at Secret World Wildlife Rescue. Incredible people. Within minutes, we had a detailed vet report which unfortunately confirmed our initial thoughts. As the poor badger was in a lot of suffering and distress, without possibility of being treated or released, the only humane option was to put him to sleep. This was done yesterday. Whilst there was inevitable sadness for the wee brock, I can only take a feeling of warmth and strength from the compassion, understanding and experience reflected in this case. Badgers have such a hard time, but we can all make a difference ❤️ I’d like to sincerely thank each individual involved, from the finder, transporter and rehabber to all of the experts and vets involved. Thank you for your time, your compassion and your dedication to these amazing animals. Together, we Stand with Badgers Rest easy, wee Brock ❤️

My favourite animal changes daily! ❤️ Check out these orphaned pinemartens ❤️ Totally blind until 35 days old, see how the second one is desperately searching through her brothers fur for a nipple! We received this from Animal Magic Wildlife Displays . Many thanks to Denis and Rosie for all the work you do .🙏 This just says it all “when he saw us he tried to hide by putting his paws over his head and this is something we see in any Badger in our care despite tales about them being dangerous and aggressive” ☺️ “We received a call just over a month ago from John Murphy who was out cycling with Aaron Mc Glade , they spotted a Badger lying by the roadside and probably like most people that passed thought he was dead but just as they were passing the Badger moved his head . It took us nearly 40 minutes to get there and despite almost freezing to death John and Aaron stayed with the Badger . We wrapped him up and put heat pads with him and headed home and to be honest we didn't think he would make it home with very little sign of life from him . When we got home Rosie gave him fluids intravenously, at this stage he was basically in a coma and he stayed like that for 4 days with Rosie giving him fluids and checking he was warm enough every couple of hours . He was in good body condition so we were not concerned about food but concentrated on keeping him alive . On day 4 he opened his eyes for the first time that we saw and later that day he stood up for the first time , when he saw us he tried to hide by putting his paws over his head and this is something we see in any Badger in our care despite tales about them being dangerous and aggressive. His first meal was convalescent dog food through a syringe and the following day he was strong enough to lap it up from a dish himself. After a few days we moved him into a pen where he had more room and didn't have to listen to 30 Jackdaws roaring and shouting, to be honest I think Rosie wanted to go with him . In the pen he went from strength to strength and we were able to watch him moving about , we were concerned about his right leg but he was moving perfectly. He was the perfect pati

Good news today sent to us by Liz Elliott, one of our supporters! Many thanks Liz, it demonstrates that one person can make all the difference to our Badgers . I’d never seen a badger in real life until lockdown last year. We were doing a zoom quiz with friends when a large badger wandered across the garden in broad daylight. I was absolutely thrilled and kept an eye out every evening. But we didn’t see it again for months. So I bought a trail camera and from then on we were able to watch regular badger visits, sometimes two of them together. We live in a town but there’s an area of undeveloped land just a few hundred years away so we reckoned that’s where the sett was. We were then advised that planning permission was being sought to develop the plot. As part of the process, I wrote to the developers and advised that there was a sett on the site and asked them to confirm what plans they were making to protect the badgers. They sent a lovely reply stating that they had identified the sett, were going to create a wildlife corridor around the development and offered to invite the NI Badger Group to inspect the plans to ensure the badgers would be protected. Good outcome!

G***dger 🤬🤬🤬
G***dger 🤬🤬🤬 This is surreal. Am I reading this right? I can’t even bring myself to write the word.

The Irish Swivel
As per regulations, a swivel forms part of the Irish Snare The location of the swivel and the fact that it is not streamlined render it ineffective How is this allowed under the Wildlife act or the Berne Convention?

Wasp security for Badgers?!
Wasp security at Badger setts? 🤣 I’ll try anything! What do you think?!
