Lutheran now offers the option to labor in a birthing pool. They are not quit at the point of offering water birth fully. It was a pleasure to be apart of their first birth to offer this.
The mommy to be enjoyed laboring in the tub for the duration of her labor. They also now have a sling to utilize as well. How awesome is this, offering mothers more options for mobility and pain relief during labor.

Did someone say International Home Birth day! So proud of both of my home birth experiences and my ability to support other mothers in their journies of prepping, planning, and having a home birth. Birth is just so beautiful and to experience it in the comforts of your own home around the love and support of your family is just so surreal. Reshaping how birth looks for my daughters has been a joy. Taking it back to the basics, how our ancestors birthed 🫶🏾. Transitioning into the fourth trimester at home is such a pure and comforting experience. Warmth, love, peace, silence, food, and your baby on the boob!
Today’s postpartum visit began with lactation. We worked to correct a shallow latch, and answered a range of questions. I was able to get in some light house cleaning while mamma got some much needed rest. This beautiful mamma decided on a lotus birth. I assisted where needed as she cleansed, and seasoned her placenta 🌻. I left a happy doula because I left a happy mamma and baby.

These parents were super excited for me to stop by and remake my famous (inspired by my beautiful grandmother) grilled cheese and turkey bacon sandwiches with tomato soup since it was a big hit the first time around. The new parents also wanted some BLT’s prepped for later on. They were able to enjoy their meal, as baby slept peacefully. I washed, dried, folded, and put away laundry while they got some much needed rest. mamma was able to get in a nice Yoni steam, and enjoy some infused water uninterrupted. What a beautiful morning.
I absolutely love birth. But there is something extra special about postpartum. There is something so beautiful about caring for a newly postpartum mother, and having an intentional part in ensuring that her journey is a memorable, and successful experience. During this pp visit I prepared a nasal decongestant steam for a mamma who has had a stuffy nose for half of her pregnancy. She raved about the immediate relief she felt afterwards. We sat and chatted while I did some light house work. I was able to get some newborn snuggles while she relaxed in her herbal sitz bath, and enjoyed her hot tea. We finished our visit with a few lactation questions. A happy mamma.
