Igboho muslim Ummah

“O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a Islam is not what we meet or grow up with from our fathers.

The real meaning of Islam is what has evidence in the Qur'an or authentic Hadith.

Question
I am asking about how to offer the prayer on the wedding night: is the recitation to be done out loud or quietly? What is it permissible to recite in it and when should one say the du`a?.

Praise be to Allah.

Firstly:

Some scholars regarded it as mustahabb to pray two rak‘ahs before consummating the marriage with the wife, but that is not narrated in the Sunnah of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). Rather it is narrated that some of the Sahaabah (may Allah be pleased with them) did that.

1.

It was narrated that Abu Sa‘eed, the freed slave of Abu Usayd, said: I got married when I was a slave, and I invited some of the Companions of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), among whom were Ibn Mas‘ood, Abu Dharr and Hudhayfah. … And they taught me and said: When your wife enters upon you, pray two rak‘ahs, then ask Allah, may He be exalted, for the good of what has entered upon you and seek refuge with Him from its evil, then go ahead and approach your wife. Narrated by Ibn Abi Shaybah in al-Musannaf (3/401) and ‘Abd al-Razzzaaq in al-Musannaf (6/191). Shaykh al-Albani (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Its isnaad to Abu Sa‘eed is saheeh. End quote.

Adaab al-Zafaaf, p. 22

2.

It was narrated that Shaqeeq said: A man came to ‘Abd-Allah -i.e., ibn Mas‘ood] who was called Abu Jareer, and said: I have got married to a young girl and I am afraid that she will dislike me.

‘Abd-Allah said: Love is from Allah and dislike is from the Shaytaan, who wants to make hateful to you that which Allah has permitted to you. So when she comes to you, tell her to pray two rak‘ahs behind you. Narrated by Ibn Abi Shaybah in al-Musannaf (3/402); ‘Abd al-Razzaaq in al-Musannaf (6/191); al-Tabaraani in al-Mu‘jam al-Kabeer, 9/204.

Shaykh al-Albani (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Its isnaad is saheeh. End quote.

Adaab al-Zafaaf, p. 24

Shaykh Ibn Baz was asked: They say that there is a prayer for getting married and they call it Sunnah or Sunnat al-zawaaj (the Sunnah of marriage), and it is before consummation. And they say: Pray two rak‘ahs, and after that comes the consummation. Please advise us, thank you.

He replied:

It is narrated in some reports from some of the Sahaabah that one should pray two rak‘ahs before consummating the marriage, but there is no reliable report concerning that in terms of soundness. But if you pray two rak‘ahs as some of the early generation did, there is nothing wrong with it; and if you do not do that, there is nothing wrong with it. The matter is broad in scope, but I do not know of any reliable, saheeh Sunnah concerning the matter. End quote.

Secondly:

With regard to the ruling on whether the recitation in this prayer should be out loud or done quietly, if it is nighttime then it should be recited out loud, and if it is daytime then it should be recited quietly. For more information please see the answer to question no. 113891. And any passage from the Quran may be recited.

Thirdly:

With regard to the du`a, he should put his hand on the front of her head and say: “Allahumma inni as’aluka khayraha wa khayra ma jabaltaha ‘alayhi wa a‘oodhi bika min sharriha wa min sharri ma jabaltaha ‘alayhi (O Allah, verily I ask You for her good and the good of what You have created in her, and I ask seek refuge with You from her evil and the evil of what You have created in her).” Narrated by Abu Dawood (2160); classed as hasan by al-Albani in Sunan Abi Dawood.

There is no report in the Sunnah – as far as we know – to specify the time for this du`a, so if one wishes, it may be recited before praying the two rak‘ahs or after.

And Allah knows best.

When Is Laylat al-Qadr?

When is Laylat al-Qadr and how should we observe it? Is it by praying, or by reading Quran and the Prophet’s Sirah, listening to lectures and lessons and by celebrating it in the mosque?

Summary of answer:
The odd-numbered nights during the last ten nights of Ramadan are more likely than others, and the night of the 27th is the most likely to be Laylat al-Qadr.
Answer
Praise be to Allah.

Striving hard in worship during the last ten days of Ramadan
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to strive hard in worship during the last ten days of Ramadan as he never did at any other time, praying, reading Quran and making du’a. Al-Bukhari and Muslim narrated from ‘Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the last ten days of Ramadan came, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would stay up at night and would wake his family up, and would abstain from marital relations. Ahmad and Muslim narrated that he used to strive hard in worship during the last ten days of Ramadan as he never did at any other time.

How to observe Laylat al-Qadr
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) enjoined staying up and praying on Laylat al-Qadr out of faith and in the hope of reward. It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever stays up and prays on Laylat al-Qadr out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.” Agreed upon. This hadith indicates that it is prescribed to observe Laylat al-Qadr by spending the night in prayer.

Du’a for Laylat al-Qadr
One of the best du’as that may be recited on Laylat al-Qadr is that which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) taught to ‘Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her). Al-Tirmidhi narrated, and classed the report as sahih, that ‘Aishah said: “I said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, if I know which night is Laylat al-Qadr, what should I say on that night?’ He said, ‘Say: Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibb al-‘afwa fa'fu ‘anni (O Allah, You are forgiving and You love forgiveness, so forgive me).”

When is Laylat al-Qadr?
With regard to specifying which night of Ramadan is Laylat al-Qadr , this needs specific evidence, but the odd-numbered nights during the last ten nights are more likely than others, and the night of the twenty-seventh is the most likely to be Laylat al-Qadr, because that is mentioned in the ahadith.

Can Muslims celebrate Laylat al-Qadr?
With regard to innovations, they are not permissible during Ramadan or at other times. It was proven that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever innovates anything in this matter of ours that is not part of it will have it rejected.” According to another report, “Whoever does any action that is not part of this matter of ours will have it rejected.”

We know of no basis for the celebrations that are held during some nights of Ramadan. The best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and the worst of matters are those which are innovated (bid’ah).

And Allah is the Source of strength. May Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and Companions.

What to do when there is too much fitnah and division

In Al-Sahihayn and elsewhere – and this version was narrated by Al-Bukhari – it is reported from Abu Idris Al-Khawlani that he heard Hudhayfah ibn Al-Yaman say: “The people used to ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about good things, but I used to ask him about bad things, fearing that I would live to see such things. I said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, we were in a state of ignorance (jahiliyyah) and evil, then Allah sent us this good (i.e., Islam). Will there be any evil after this good?’ He said, ‘Yes.’ I said, ‘Will there by any good after that evil?’ He said, ‘Yes, but it will be tainted.’ I said, ‘How will it be tainted?’ He said, ‘(There will be) some people who will guide others in a way that is not according to my guidance. You will approve of some of their deeds and disapprove of others.’ I said, ‘Will there be any evil after that good?’ He said, ‘Yes, there will be people calling at the gates of Hell, and whoever responds to their call, they will throw them into it (the Fire).’ I said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, describe them to us.’ He said, ‘They will be from among our people, speaking our language.’ I said, ‘What do you command me to do if I live to see such a thing?’ He said, ‘Adhere to the jama’ah (group, community) of the Muslims and their imam (leader).’ I asked, ‘What if there is no jama’ah and no leader?’ He said, ‘Then keep away from all those groups, even if you have to bite (eat) the roots of a tree until death overtakes you whilst you are in that state.’”

The time does not refer to this particular period we are living in; it is a general idea which may refer to any time and place, from the time of the fitnah and rebellion against ‘Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) at the time of the Sahaabah (may Allaah be pleased with them all), onwards.

What is meant by keeping away or withdrawing from people at the time of division is what was mentioned by Al-Hafidh ibn Hajar (may Allah have mercy on him) in Al-Fath, narrating from Al-Tabari, who said: when the people do not have an imam (leader) and they split into sects and parties, do not follow any of these groups; keep away from all of them if possible, lest one fall into evil. When there is a jama’ah that is truly following the Straight Path, then you have to join them and help to increase their numbers, and cooperate with them in truth, because in that case this group constitutes the jamaa’ah of the Muslims for that man in that place. And Allah is the source of strength.

May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet, his family and Companions

FIVE SUNAN OF THE ADHAN.

There are five Sunan connected with the Adhan. Not many aware about the recitation of a particular supplication (second of the five) shown below in the inset)

When the testimony of faith is made in the Adhan by the mu'addin eg: -

"Ashhadu al-Lailaha ilAllah and Ashadu anna Muhammadar Rasulullah"

This is when the mu'addin affirms the Oneness of Allah and the Messengership of Muhammad (salallāhu alaihiwa-salaam)[

One responds by mentioning (2+2) 4 times in total the supplication:

رَضيـتُ بِاللهِ رَبَّـاً
وَبِالإسْلامِ ديـناً
وَبِمُحَـمَّدٍ نَبِيّـاً .

Raḍītu billāhi Rabban, wa bil-Islāmi dīnan,
wa bi-Muḥammadin Nabiyan (ṣallallāhu `alayhi wa sallama)

I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, with Islam
as my religion, and with Muhammad
(salallāhu alaihiwa-salaam) as my Prophet.

The great scholar Sh Saalih ul Uthaymeen (rahimahullaah) mentions this in his fatawah. Generally this is one of the regular morning and evening supplications as well.

"Allah has promised that anyone who says this three times every morning or evening will be pleased on the Day of Resurrection." [Ahmad 4/ 337, An-Nasa'i, 'Amalul-Yawm wal-Laylah p. 4, Ibn As-Sunni (no. 68), At-Tirmidhi 5/465. Its chain of transmission is good (Hasan), Ibn Baz, p. 39].

Striving to be upon Salafiyyah.
