In Islam, knowledge comes before action; there can be no action without knowledge, as Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): “So know (O Muhammad) that Laa ilaaha ill-Allâh (none has the right to be worshipped but Allâh), and ask forgiveness for your sin, and also for (the sin of) believing men and believing women” [Muhammad 47:19]

Al-Baqarah 2:105 Neither those who disbelieve from the People of the Scripture [i.e., the Jews and Christians] nor the polytheists wish that any good should be sent down to you from your Lord. But Allāh selects for His mercy whom He wills, and Allāh is the possessor of great bounty.

Eid usually starts with Muslims going to the Mosque for prayers. They dress in their best clothes and thank Allah for all the blessings they have received. It is a time when they visit family and friends. Muslims will also give money to charity so that poor people can celebrate too.

Animal sacrifice for Eid-il-Adha is performed on the first day of 'Eid, 10th of Dhul-Hijjah and on the days of Tashreeq, i.e. 11th, 12th and 13th of Dhul-Hijjah. Any of these days is allowed for sacrifice. The sacrifice is to be performed every year. The slaughtering cannot be performed before the Eid prayer.

Eid al-Adha gives Muslims another opportunity for charity. The meat from any sacrificed animal is shared with the poor, along with family members and friends. Individuals can sacrifice a sheep, goat or lamb on their own, while a cow or camel can be shared by seven people.
