Blessed with the sheer genius of Soule Monde (Ray Paczkowski & Russ Lawton) today in Stowe to close out the 2023 Main Street Live Music Series.

10/08/2023

Saturday, August 12th from 3-5pm in the Village of Stowe, the Main Street Live Music Series season finale proudly features the two-man jazz band “your parents warned you about“ ~ Soule Monde (Ray Paczkowski & Russ Lawton)

Keyboardist Ray Paczkowski is best known for playing in various bands with Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio. He has an intrepid ability to simultaneously tame a Hammond B3 and clavinet, filling Soule Monde’s sound with beautiful and dynamic melodies. Ray has toured with Vorcza, Dave Matthews Band, Viperhouse and many others.

Drummer Russ Lawton is the consummate ‘pocket’ drummer, driving the groove further without ever losing a step. Bending time like few drummers can, Russ has played with Vermont staples like Trey Anastasio, Mike Gordon, Strangefolk, and The Grippo Funk Band. He teaches at Middlebury College.

Soule Monde’s pedigree speaks for itself, and they have made appearances at Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, Saturday Night Live, David Letterman, Jay Leno, Conan O’Brien and on the Jimmy Fallon Show.

Saturday, August 5th from 3-5pm in the Village of Stowe, the Main Street Live Music Series features Daniel Ian Smith & A Collective Directive.

Daniel Ian Smith is a saxophonist, flutist, composer and professor at Berklee School of Music for over 25 years. He is in demand as a clinician, guest soloist, and lecturer with appearances throughout the United States, Japan, Germany, Canada, Mexico, Israel and England. Daniel’s groups ‘The New World Jazz Composers Octet’, and ‘The Latin Side of Billy Strayhorn’ have been featured at festivals and halls locally and internationally. Recently he has been featured on acclaimed recordings with Fernando Brandao, The Pablo Ablanedo Octet, The Jazz Composers Alliance Orchestra, and Brian McCarthy and the Better Angels of Our Nature.

Daniel will be accompanied by pianist Zahili Gonzalez Zamora, bassist Gerson Lazo Quiroga, and percussionist Gabe Jarrett.

Zahili Gonzalez Zamora is a pianist, composer, bandleader, arranger, and educator. Born in Cuba, Zahili started playing piano at the age of six. Her passion for music has taken her to Canada, and South East Asia, and her rich musical background and extraordinary improvisation skills render her a leader in the modern Latin jazz idiom. Zahili has collaborated with flutist Orlando “Maraca” Valle; trumpeter Ingrid Jensen; and guitarist/film scorer Claudio Ragazzi.

Bassist Gerson Lazo Quiroga was born in Chile, and at the age of 5 he began learning to play guitar from his father. In 2014, he was awarded the Presidential Scholarship at Berklee College of Music where he studied Music Production & Engineering, Performance and Jazz Composition. Gerson has played the Montreal Jazz Festival, Monterey Jazz Festival, Beantown Jazz Festival with Al Jarreau, Panama Jazz Festival next to Michelle Coltrane, The National Folk Festival and several others. He also had the honor of playing in the “Pablo Ziegler Meets Berklee” concert featuring the Latin Grammy-winning pianist and composer Pablo Ziegler.

Percussionist Gabe Jarrett studied drum-set composition at the New School Jazz program in NYC before relocating to Vermont. He has joined artists such as Peter Apfelbaum, Joe Lovano, Greg Tardy, Nina Nastasia, Thomas Chapin, Mike Gordon, Page McConnell, Will Bernard, Marco Benevento, Karl Berger, Paul Asbell, Ray Paczkowski and many others. When at home in Vermont Gabe teaches music percussion at UVM, Johnson State, and Saint Michael's College.
