What makes your chapter valuable? . Every chapter donates to the Scholarship and Maintenance fund. Every senior who graduated last year, which was all of them received a scholarship from the Women of the Moose.
Most every child comes to Mooseheart Child City and School, Inc. with a few items of clothing, maybe a pair of shoes and a jacket in a garbage bag. The women of the Moose provide every child with new clothing, shoes and jackets and a suitcase before they go to their new home with their new friends. We take out the judgment.
Your chapter provides for the music department. Instruments, music stands sheet music. Being a part of the band teaches the students to be a part of something. It teaches social skills. It allows self-expression and cognitive skills.
The beauty shop at Moosehaven. Our seniors like to look nice also. They can go to the beauty shop and get a new hairdo or freshen up the normal hairdo. Looking nice makes you feel energized and fresh.
Think about the things that you use on a daily basis. Your chapter provides daily needs for BOTH campuses.
The women of the Moose provided the new gymnasium at the Mooseheart school.
We provide occupational and physical therapy when needed on both campuses.
We supply both campuses with pharmacy needs.
We provide for vision, hearing and dental needs.
We provide a Christmas party and presents on both campuses.
Have you ever seen the pier that goes out into the St. Johns River? The women of the Moose have rebuilt that several times. Our seniors love fishing on that pier.
Community service efforts are greatly appreciated and very much encouraged. But remember why we are moose, to take care of our children and our seniors.
Thanks to all the chapters who continue to support our first and foremost philanthropic endeavors.
Good luck to all the new officers of the ensuing year.

Lodge “Plus One” Incentive Offered

The Moose International Board of Directors has approved a new incentive for fiscal year 2024-25 that will rebate the ABCD portion of dues paid to Moose International ($38) for every member over the lodge’s final active member count from fiscal year 2023-24 (which ended on April 30, 2024). For example, if a lodge has a final active member count of 100 at midnight on April 30, 2024, and has a final active member count of 115 at midnight on April 30, 2025, the lodge would receive $570 back from Moose International. Lodges achieving a gain of 1-29 members will receive the credit to their A/R, while lodges achieving a gain of 30+ members will receive a check following the end of this next fiscal year. There is no cap or limit to the number of cash rebates a lodge can earn. Additional information will be available soon on the Moose International website, in Moose magazine, and in future Official Communications.

THIS MESSAGE IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES (DIRECTED TO CURRENT MOOSE MEMBERS) AND IS NOT INTENDED AS A PUBLIC SOLICITATION FOR MEMBERSHIP!
Just a few years ago, our fraternity took a leap of faith and successfully integrated the men and women as “One Moose”. This historical decision united us in many positive ways that we are still realizing today. Our Moose membership continues to grow however, Chapter sponsorship has unfortunately declined. This leads us to the analogy that some women joined the Chapter in order to enjoy the privileges of the Social Quarters and/or Lodge functions/activities. In the past, many women not only joined the Chapter but became very active in fundraising, activities and fraternal/community service functions in the Chapter and the Lodge. The relevance of our Chapters is very significant, not only at the Lodge level but throughout our fraternity, especially in support of Mooseheart and Moosehaven.
To help ease the transition for Chapter members who were required to become Lodge members, it was decided that, should a Chapter member pay for a Life Membership in the Chapter prior to May 1, 2021, it would translate into a Life Membership in the Moose/Lodge. As many women took advantage of this well-advertised initiative, it helped ease the transition to a unified Moose. It was also decided that active Chapter members would enjoy a 3-year extension of their current Chapter dues in order to help “ease the pain” of an increased dues structure by becoming members of “The Moose”. That 3-year incentive ends on April 30, 2024, and regretfully, we anticipate an unfortunate loss of Chapter membership beginning in May of 2024. Currently, every man and woman must have a Lodge membership.
There is a misunderstanding that a woman (or man) can merely let their dues expire and patronize the lodge as a guest of their spouse. As a reminder, an expired member cannot be considered as a “guest” for one full year after their dues have expired.
So, with all of this in mind I ask you, what is/was the purpose of your membership in the first place? Also, why wouldn’t you wish to support The Moose with a membership?
Did you know?
• $38.00 of your dues go to support Mooseheart/Moosehaven and the support programs provided by Moose International.
o If your Lodge dues are $50.00, the Lodge retains $12.00; that equates to $1.00 per month.
o If a lodge has 300 members, that is $300.00 a month or $3,600.00 per year. What Lodge can operate on that budget?
• At $50.00 a year, your dues are essentially $4.16 a month; less than .14 cents a day. WOW!
Now, there are two types of people; those who say, “what’s in it for me” and those who ask, “what can I do”? I must ask, what is the expectation of a return, spending $4.16 a month? Mere “access” to a safe social environment is priceless. Once inside, there is a myriad of opportunity, depending on the Lodge and your participation.
Recent experiences have revealed that a great number of our members have no idea what The Moose is all about and they are unaware of our relevance in our communities and our philanthropic efforts. Their motivation is to “get a deal” or something for free, to them it’s just another social club. ABSOLUTELY NOT!
The Moose is what you make it. It can be your local bar, restaurant or casino if that’s all the members promote. However, it can be a place of comfort and refuge, a hub for community involvement as well as a resource for our community.
Hey, we’re all looking for a deal or a bargain but, the price we pay for the privilege of being associated with a great organization should make us want to support the efforts. We enjoy the reputation, why not contribute to its success by support through membership. It’s only pennies a day but those pennies add-up and there is strength in numbers. Please help us become even stronger so we can truly make a difference.
Mike Rios – Director of Membership – Moose International

We are sponsoring a diaper drive for Tender Life Maternity Home - Ventura. This organization has been around since 1985 taking in previously homeless pregnant mamas and provides housing, therapy, nourishment, lifestyle coaching but most of all HOPE! Most of these women transition to the city center transitional living where they continue their journey.

Please bring the donated items to the district meeting being held on February 18 at the Ventura Moose Lodge. We hope each lodge continues to hold this drive in your lodges! Let’s all continue to make a difference in our community and show them what being a Moose Member is all about!
