Feel the rain on your skin ☔️🌧️
Sorry that will be in your head all day now, but really… think about it when was the last time your child felt rain? The children at the school behind our house weren’t allowed outside today, they all came in with full waterproofs/hoods/hats and boots.
Kids are waterproof! Clothes can be washed!
The euphoria from rain like this is like nothing else, and while I’m telling you what to do… YOU jump in the puddles too!
But the ladybird had a good idea & she whispered it into each animal’s ear… 🐞
What an amazing first day for our new wilder! We’ve had a really long walk in the woods, fixed some of our older hut, found a ladybird which perfectly fits in with our book of the week (what the ladybird heard) and we sang some beautiful songs as we explored.
What have you been up to today?
It’s September! 🤎🍂
Think that in itself calls for hot milk and honey in the woods today 😉
Leaf recognition, collecting acorns, climbing and hugging trees 🌳
What an interactive day for these lovely babies. We explored the woods and foraged for what we needed for our art project. This was completely on the spot planning as ALWAYS. We literally found an acorn 2 minutes into our walk and it’s started a whole new topic as they were so interested in them! That’s exactly what on the spot planning is all about!
Stay tuned for some recognition/acorn/autumn activities for as long as they stay interested 🍂🌲
We accidentally made a huge group game with 25 children at the Soft Play today 🫢😂 it was super fun though and we made loads of friends!
We’ve had lots of talks about emotions, using our new emotion cards but also just through talking about the more intricate feelings that start to open up in this age range. It’s no longer just happy or sad, they can feel angry, disappointed, excited and they might even start to understand grief and comfort too. It’s incredibly important that under 5’s have the capacity and the space to feel every emotion, to name them and give them occupation of the brain and body. How do I feel and what can I do about it?
We’ve been shaking our body to get rid of anxiety, stomping our feet to get our anger out, we’ve been doing big jumps to show our excitement and taking time out when we feel overwhelmed.
What a busy day for little minds ☺️
We’ve also done some painting, singing and signing, practiced photography and did some autumnal crafts. As well as eating our delicious beetroot ragu with pasta 🍝
What have you been up to today?
Curious minds are capable minds 💪🏼
I absolutely cannot cope with how adorable this is 🫶🏻
This is what it’s all about, creating friendships and learning how to be a good person and a good friend 🌿🌳
Where are all the children?!
I’m actually really shocked at the small amount of children I’ve seen outside this summer holidays…
It’s crazy to me because it’s so easy, children adapt so well to being outside… the less ‘stimuli’ the better! The children will get bored in the park in 10 minutes but can play in the woods even without my interaction for HOURS and it’s FREE!
I’m genuinely concerned about the ‘tablet’ generation. I wanna hear about children going on jungle adventures and climbing trees 🌳
We have been learning about caterpillars all week because our caterpillars have been busy! We have eggs, baby caterpillars, big caterpillars, chrysalis’s and butterflies! 🦋
Integrating art and drama meant we then got to act out being an egg all the way up to being a butterfly. We then made our own caterpillars out of playdough!
How incredible is this sculpture - by a three year old?! It’s got antennas and even a hump where he crawls. These children are so incredibly talented and I’m so lucky to spend everyday with them.
You don’t need fancy equipment to develop your children’s gross motor skills! 💪🏼
Love for all. Peace for all. Safety for all.
Let’s raise these children with kindness, patience, acceptance and compassion.
& just like that… we’re back 🌞🌱🌳🫶🏻🌲🌿✌🏼
Happy Birthday Arlo! 🌳
The reason Little Wild exists, the glue that holds us all together and everyone’s best friend.
Thank you all for celebrating with us 🫶🏻
The most beautiful morning 🌊🌿🌳
We found loads of animals and insects to watch and explore, we were naming birds and especially loved the heron and magpie. We saw trains, helicopters, boats and aeroplanes. Then we had a snack and did some art too!
Tree climbers! 🌲🌳
Strong, confident children 🫶🏻
If you go down to the woods today…. 🐻
Life skills! 🙌🏼
Today we practised some great life skills, we went to the post office and spoke about what they do there and how posting letters works. We went to the shop and everyone helped collect the things we need and helped to pay and pack it. Then we walked home and spoke about road safety - they were all super!
Our beautiful summer wreath 🌞
This wreath has already earned it money back, such a cheap and easy craft that you can reuse every season or event. The children love talking about it to their parents whilst they’re waiting at the door. Linking the partnership between parents, children and the setting.

Above my head, the stars do shine;
Each star is like a flame.
And one is mine, that o’er me shone
When to this earth I came.
Upon this earth, my step is firm;
The stones are ‘neath my feet.
I see the birds and beasts and flowers,
And loving people greet.
And every year, the day returns
When my star it shineth bright.
And I receive within my heart
The glory of its light.
Can you believe we only have Arlo left and then EVERYONE is over 2?! How quickly has that gone?!
Building, exploring, getting those brains working…
What a weather difference from last week?!
Creating best friends and the best memories 🫶🏻
Breakfast, expressive painting and mud 🤎
Rain rain go away 🌧️
We love the rain and we definitely celebrate the weather regardless but also ….. come on summer 🙄
