I have this personality that ... I just never felt like I fit in anywhere. I couldn't change though cuz that felt awkward, so I just went the majority of my youth not fitting in. I dunno. Maybe all youth feel this way. That's a fair observation.
My personality is such that, I'm highly emotinal (I either REALLY love you or you've REALLY pissed me off so a huge wall of defense goes up between you and my love). I am super laid back and hate schedules, they tend to feel confining to me. I love talking to fun people and roll my eyes when I'm around not fun people. I wear my emotions on my sleeve and totally hide them when I feel vulnerable. If you love my kids I will stand infront of a train for you, if you mistreat my kids ... well, you know. The train... LOL!
It wasn't until I served my mission in Brazil that I truly fit in so comfortably with the people, the culture, the attitude. I just loved my time in Brazil because there, I found my home.
My companion told me in a conversation on the phone a few months ago, "you were born in the wrong country. You ARE Brazilian!"
It was the nicest thing I'd heard said about me.
Here's my point in writing this.
It has come to my attention that missionaries are being asked, encouraged, maybe even EXTREMELY encouraged, to act, dress, carry themselves, in a "professional manner, as representatives of Christ." This means dressing a certain way, removing distracting jewelry, being careful to make sure pictures posted on social media look sharp and proper.
Here's my question. What does it mean exactly "conduct yourself in a way that represents Christ."
Who gets to measure that?
It was the disciples that corrected Christ at times. "Why are you speaking to that woman, she's a sinner." Even His disciples didn't know Christ.
Jess is talking about serving a mission. Her personality is truly one of a kind. The girl busts out in dance all the time, her humor is so unsuspecting, she says what she wants and enjoys life. Pe
