COMMENT BELOW: WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR MUSTS FOR SELF-CARE?

Self-Care can show up in so many different ways for everyone and can even look different for you depending on the day. It is important to listen to your mind and body and provide yourself with what you need to function your best and recover efficiently.

Have you wondered whether training with a fitness professional is a good option for you? There are many reasons to train with a certified trainer, although most everyone can benefit in some way from working with a coach. If you are trying to determine if a trainer would be a positive investment for you, these are just a few things to consider.

- What are your goals and how important are they to you?
- What are you willing to invest to obtain these goals?
- Do you have any specific needs (injuries, sports specific, chronic or acute pain, etc.)?
- Do you know how to train to best suit your goals now?
- Do you want to achieve your goals soon or in a timely manner?
- Do you struggle with accountability?
- How long have you been working towards this goal already?
- Would you benefit from a individualized, scientific approach?
- Would you continue to utilize knowledge gained?

My mission to all of my clients is to help them develop a sustainable approach to their health and fitness journey, as well as the knowledge and skills required to continue safely on their own.

I believe everyone should work with a professional trainer, at least once in their life, so they can gain autonomy over their health and fitness journey.

Everyone should feel control over their body and physical limitations. ❤️💪

You should NEVER be willing to compromise health for weight loss, when it comes to your nutrition.

Weight loss is not as simple as lowering calories. It is much more important what you are putting into your body.

Try to increase the amount and variety of WHOLE foods that you are consuming. Your cravings will begin to adjust to the foods that you are putting into your body.

💪☝️Are you working all of your core, regularly in your training plan?

Your core is made up of back extensor muscles, hip flexors, and transverse abdominis (deep core), re**us abdominis (6-pack), and obliques. These muscle groups have independent functions and work together to stabilize the spine. In order to effectively maximize your overall core strength you need to be integrating accessing all of these muscle groups during your "ab"/ core training.

🙌🙌The best way to maintain your motivation???

Discover your greatest motivator, your "WHY" and don't forget to remember it.

Body composition goals are great to have, but typically this is not going to be a good enough reason to prioritize yourself and your fitness routine every day.

You need to determine a "WHY" that will ALWAYS be a priority, regardless of life circumstances.

My "WHY" is for health, longevity, and to be a good model for my future kids. I never want to say not to doing something, because I am physically incapable. I never want to be too exhausted and run down to participate in an active life. I work out and fuel my body because I value the energy, mobility, strength, and confidence that comes with a healthy lifestyle.

SWT has 3-month, 6-month, and 12-month training plans. The duration you work with a personal trainer is entirely dependent on your goals, needs, and wants.

Some clients prefer to work with me long-term, so they always have a professional advice, accountability, and training plan that grows and progresses with them and their ever-changing goals/ needs.

I have also worked with clients for shorter terms.

Regardless of the duration that you work with a coach, you should be developing an increased level of confidence and knowledge around your training plan and how to safely progress on your own.

Effort is everything... Have you ever wanted something so badly that it wasn't an option to fail?

When you don't allow failure to be an option, you get back up when you fall, you seek out the knowledge that you are missing, you invest whatever is necessary. You DON'T GIVE UP.

When you are willing to give all of your efforts, you WILL succeed. Simply by getting up and doing the best that you can everyday guarantees success.

Every day, the total amount of effort you have will differ. It is about still giving what you can on those harder days and being unwilling to throw in the towel.

"Sometimes you don't know your own strength until you come face to face with your greatest weakness."

Being faced with a challenge or weakness is an opportunity for growth, progress, and willpower development. Feeling discouragement and quitting is a choice. It is also a choice to reframe your challenges in a light that is productive of who you want to be and where you are trying to go.

The journey to ANYTHING worthwhile is NOT easy. It is hard. It does NOT get easier. It will get harder as the challenges get bigger. The difference is, the choice becomes easier.

Every time you make a positive choice when faced with a challenging situation, you increase your willpower, discipline, and confidence in your ability to keep going.

Make the choice to do better EVERY DAY and you will get there.

YOU are always worth the effort. The most important investment you can make is to your physical and mental health and well-being. Never stop trying to be a better you. ❤️

24/04/2024

🙌💪Every day that you work out when you are feeling unmotivated is another day that you proved your discipline and willpower.

Every day that you put effort into your health and fitness is another day closer to achieving bigger goals.

You will get there... just keep going.

For now, enjoy the journey and focus on being BETTER THAN you were YESTERDAY.

Healthy Looks Good on You! ❤️💪

If you want to look your best AND maintain it, you need to feel your best.

A sustainable approach means you enjoy your training and enjoy taking care of yourself. Learning to love the process is a must!

If you want to love the way you look, you need to treat your body like you love it now!

There is no easy way out, but making positive choices WILL get easier as you start to feel better and stronger than before!

Fitness has always been an important aspect of my life. I grew up doing sports and turned to the weight room as a means to continue my much-needed physical outlet.

Throughout my journey, my priorities and goals have varied from body recomposition, mental health, physical health, sports performance, and injury rehabilitation and prevention.

Depending on your goals and priorities, the demands and requirements of your training and nutrition plan can vary greatly. This is part of why you hear so many different "rules" and suggestions from online platforms.

At SWT my goal is to help my clients achieve their optimal state of health and well-being. This journey is not the same for everyone and goals and priorities can vary greatly. The new habits that we put in place are built for you to get one step closer to your ideal self. Along the way, your priorities may shift, especially as you begin to reach new levels of potential, you may not have known you were capable of. This is one of my favorite parts!

Health and fitness is a very personal journey. There is no one right way to go about it. I help provide my clients with the knowledge they need to determine what their priorities are going to be. Your plan needs to work for and satisfy you.

How you start your day can set the tone for the rest of the day. What you fuel your mind and body with from the start of the day is so important.

Starting your day with easily achievable accomplishments can help you feel more in charge and in control of your day.

Journaling, walking, drinking water, making your bed are just a few ways to start your day off on the right foot.

What is one thing that is a must for you in the morning?

18/04/2024

Strength training has so many benefits outside of body recomposition goals. Many of my clients begin training for the goal of obtaining a better physique. While this is absolutely achievable through strength training, there are so many more benefits that most of my clients continue for.

Weight training helps you feel as good as you look and promotes longevity.

Longterm success and sustainability with any program requires a whole approach of mind, body, and nutrition.

It is vital to fuel your mind and body with positive and relevant influences to the desired outcome.

Start thinking, eating, and doing like the person you want to be.

HEALTHY is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of illness or infirmity.

HEALTHY is an optimal state of well-being and quality of life.

HEALTHY is different on everyone. Have you ever wondered what healthy even is or what it means?

HEALTHY foods, activities, environments are all determined based on what your individual needs are. Healthy is all of the things that enhance your mood, energy, movement, and happiness.

So, what is a HEALTHY workout plan?
One that allows you adequate rest, enhances mobility and strength, boosts confidence, and is manageable for your lifestyle.

What is HEALTHY food?
HEALTHY food provides you with all of the essential macronutrients and micronutrients that your body needs to function properly and efficiently. HEALTHY food should enhance your immune system, energy, mood, and physical performance... NOT compromise it.

Are the people, things, and actions that you are filling your life with contributing positively to your optimal health?

12/04/2024

Not putting in the time will guarantee that you won't achieve your desired results. Putting in a small amount of effort a day will guarantee that you get closer to your goals.

The importance of a health and fitness journey is not just in the results. What you learn about yourself and gain on the journey is far more valuable.

You may start the journey for body recomposition goals, but you stick with it when you notice your increase in energy, confidence, and autonomy over your life.

The mission at Sam Wilson Training is to help as many women as possible navigate their health and fitness so they can start living as their IDEAL SELF.

Ideal self is the best version of you that you connect with and feel content with. The difference between your ideal self and actual self is known as self-discrepancy.

If there is a gap between the two of these, you may feel things like...
- "I don't feel like myself."
- "I should be doing better."
- Low self-esteem
- The need to constantly chase productivity

Self-discrepancy can feel like having higher expectations for yourself than are actually achievable. Closing this gap takes awareness and effort.

Have you taken the time to visualize your ideal self? What can you start doing to close this gap?

Setting yourself up for success is a must with anything you do in your life.

Learn what environmental factors increase your likeliness of success and implement them.

If you are surrounding yourself with people who are highly negative, this is going to impact how you feel and think. If you want to be a more positive thinker, surround yourself with more positive people.

If you struggle with staying motivated, learn what tools help you to feel motivated and start using them on a regular basis.

You are in charge of your environment. Take some time to analyze your environment. Is it truly supporting your growth? What changes can you make to your environment to better support your goals?

08/04/2024

SELF-DISCREPANCY: The difference between your actual self and your ideal self that derives negative emotions.

This encapsulates all of the characteristics and actions of your ideal self. If you envision your ideal self as being healthy, well-rounded, active, kind, and social you may find some negative feelings around self-esteem if you are not currently fulfilling any or all of these traits.

Someone may feel a sense of self-discrepancy if they consider themselves to be highly social and have felt unable to prioritize time to socialize with new people.

Others may feel a sense of self-discrepancy if they would consider their ideal self to be healthy and active and they are struggling to fill these roles.

How do you close the self-discrepancy gap?

You need to start living, doing, and behaving like your ideal self would. Many of us plan on closing this gap, once something is achieved first, or based on some pre-set condition. For example, I will start attending a group workout class, once I am in better shape.

If you want to close this gap, you have to start doing and living now! This means, sign up for that workout class, start waking up early, prioritize time with friends, eat nutritious foods now.

It takes time to close this gap and it certainly won't happen overnight. Start small today and eventually you will start living differently and feeling better now, instead of later.
