📚Setting realistic goals are a very important part of your recovery from any kind of pain or injuries.

☝️ If you go back to sports or your daily activities without giving sufficient time to recover it can worsen your injuries.

☝️ At the same time delaying rehabilitation can hamper your recovery leading to long term effects.

☝️ Always discuss with your physiotherapist what you want to achieve in order for them to help you set achievable goals.

Setting unrealistic goals can lead to mental fatigue and therby delay your recovery.

💪 This week’s take on transversus abdominis.

It's the deep core muscle.

▶️It forms lateral wall of abdomen along with internal and external oblique muscles.

▶️This muscle helps to stabilize lumbopelvic area, helps in forceful coughing and sneezing by increasing intrabdominal pressure, protects internal organs.

Planks always look very appealing and doing it makes you feel that you are really working out!
Why so?
With Plank you can work on a lot of muscles by just doing one exercise.

The common muscles worked during a plank are :
⭐Transversus abdominis
⭐ Re**us abdominis
⭐ Internal oblique
⭐ External oblique
⭐ Deltoid

You can progress by using an exercise ball to challenge your balance and more muscle work.

⏩ There is an assumptions about rehabilitation is that there is no gain without pain. But is this true?

⏩ Yes when you have some pain when you are exercising the injured muscles or joints. But if there is pain beyond tolerance, then you should stop.

⏩ Your physiotherapist will familiarize you with the VAS(visual analog scale) and advise you on following it to be accurate on when to continue and when to stop.

⏩ The calf muscles comprises of the two muscles gastrocnemius and soleus running at the back of your lower leg and ending at your ankle as the Achilles’ tendon.

⏩ It helps to move your heel forward while walking, running or jumping.

💥Upper back muscle strengthening💥

💻 When you spend a lot of time looking at a computer you tend to get into a rounded posture.

This makes your chest muscles tight and the upper back muscles lengthen.

🏋🏻‍♀️ Therefore along with stretching your pecs it is very important to focus on the strength of your traps and rhomboids.

These are some simple exercises to start strengthening your upper back.

I am using an exercise band level 2.

📚 It is always good to know a little bit about the common muscles in your body.

🦵This week’s take on the Tensor Fascia Latae.

⏩ Tensor fascia latae also known as TFL is a small muscle found on the outside of the hip and together with the gluteus maximus, it acts on the iliotibial band and is continuous with the iliotibial tract, which runs down up to the knee.

⏩ TFL is a muscle that acts both on the hip joint to create hip/pelvic dysfunction and it also acts on creating tension in the fascia latae and its specialised portion known as the ITB.

⏩ Overactivity in this muscle can create a direct mechanical effect that creates excessive lateral tension on the patella and it can also be implicated in low back pain that are caused by excessive anterior pelvic tilt and lumbar spine extension.

▶️Tennis elbow or Lateral epicondylitis is a common condition caused due to over use of the extensor tendon of wrist which originates on outer aspect of your elbow.

☝️This conditions is not only seen in Tennis players but also in people who regularly lift with poor biomechanics,computer users etc.

💡A simple test to diagnose this condition is demonstrated in the video above.

💪☝️Physiotherapy is first line of care in this condition and earlier you start with right exercises and biomechanics it will prevent further wear and tear of the tendon.

💥 Deltoid strengthening 💥

Deltoid weakness can result in difficulty in moving your arm and can also give you neck pain due to compensation of your neck and upper back muscles.

These are some simple exercises to start strengthening your deltoid.

I am using just a 1.5 kg dumbbell, progress as you feel comfortable.
