Did you know that Bridge Refugee Services is a nonprofit that uses donations and federal funds to help refugees establish their lives in East Tennessee?
The McClung Museum will host a special family fun day in partnership with Bridge to celebrate Knoxville's diverse cultures. This beautiful painting by Knoxville Impressionist Catherine Wiley, generously loaned by a Wiley descendant, is on view in the KMA lobby in conjunction with the special exhibition American Impressionism: The Lure of the Artists’ Colony. Many of the artists represented in this dazzling collection of 50 masterworks, from the Reading Public Museum in Pennsylvania, showed their work in Knoxville and had close connections to contemporaries like Catherine Wiley, Lloyd Branson, and other East Tennessee artists. Our Story
The Arts & Culture Alliance of Greater Knoxville, in cooperation with the local arts community, is proud to announce its sixth year of Penny4Arts, a program designed to meet the local arts community’s long-term goal of serving and educating East Tennessee's children. Penny4Arts provides every child in Knox and surrounding counties, including home-schooled and private-schooled students, an opportunity to attend local arts and culture events/activities by nearly 30 organizations at the maximum cost of ONE PENNY (or FREE!) when accompanied by an adult during the 2016/2017 academic school year.
The following guidelines apply to every Penny4Arts event:
+ Open to Knox and surrounding County residents (with a few exceptions);
+ All children ages 5-15 must be accompanied by a paying adult (age 18 and older) in a ratio not to exceed three children per one adult.
+ Proof of Knox and surrounding County residency may be required;
+ At least one in a group of up to four students ages 16-18 must purchase a regular adult admission/ticket (if applicable) for the group to be able to participate in Penny4Arts.
Concerts, fairs, plays, dance performances, historic home tours, fairs, museums, festivals, arts workshops, radio broadcasts, movies, and more are part of Penny4Arts!
