Got Post Holiday Stress? Be kind to yourself and take some time to relax and stretch with @thewellnessroomfl 🖤

Flexing your muscles usually results in bringing the bones attached closer together. For example, the spine is in flexion when we bend forwards. Extension is simply the opposite, increasing the angel between parts, e.g. bending backwards. Create some space in your spine with these 3 easy moves.

🐈🐄 Seated cat and cow is a well rounded exercise for extension and flexion! Tuck the chin into the chest as you round your body forward, over exaggerating the mid back in a “hunched forward” position. Lift the chin up, arching your back - extending the spine and creating a small back bend.

🌪 Spinal twist is a restorative yoga pose that promotes good digestion and encourages spinal mobility. Twisting postures help tone the belly, massage internal organs and can help relieve lower back pain.

🐫 Camel pose is a deep back bend. Do not collapse your neck into your shoulders. Remember that the neck is an extension of the spine! Place your hands on your lower back, fingers facing down, and lead with your hips as you bring the energy forward. Your head dips back last. This may be quite enough of a stretch so do not feel obligated to place your hands on your heels.

Tech neck stretch - part II @thewellnessroomfl keeps sharing her wisdom with us while looking beautiful in her ultra-comfy WFH butter-soft hoodie, designed for an extra dose of cozy. 🖤 ---- Tech neck syndrome comes from shortened muscles in the front of the neck, while the muscles in the back of the neck and shoulders over extend over time. Rebalancing physically is key to healthy screen time habits. 📱Stretch the upper traps but placing one hand on your shoulder, and the other on the side of your head, applying gentle pressure to open up the sides of the neck and upper shoulders. Switch sides, holding each for a few seconds. 📱Your scalenes run all the way from the collar bone into the front of the neck. This angled head tilt will help lengthen these shorted muscles and as a bonus, can help with jaw pain. 📱Threading the needle not only opens up the back shoulder muscles, but also alleviates rhomboid pain, which is a main player in the phrase “there’s a knot in my shoulder blade.” As always hold these poses as long as you need, no matter how short the video is! #WFHWellness #SelfMassage #WorkFromHome #techneck #screentime #massageathome #easyyoga #yoga
