Donnielle James Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started? I don’t think I’ve ever done an introduction post on here so here goes ! I’m a Licensed Acupuncturist and Herbalist (and Pilates teacher) and Health and Wellness Coach and Educator in Santa Monica, CA. Very passionate about integrative medicine /wellness and love working with patients, clients and students and provide trauma informed care. Nothing is off limits in terms of questions I might ask. Some of my favorite topics include : Gynecological Pathology, Orthopedics , Mental Health, Internal Medicine and Wellness Support. Before becoming an Acupuncturist and a Masters degree in East Asian Medicine , I studied Clinical Psychology (MA from Pepperdine ) and completed a BA at the University of Oregon (Go Ducks!) . I have a variety of certifications and love talking about healthy food with patients and obscure pathology with friends and colleagues A few fun facts . I have worked with teaching acupuncture students for almost 10 years, I originally wanted to major in fashion/costume design or dance science/therapy so fashion and movement are two of my favorite things outside of work. I grew up on a family owned farm in Oregon , am classically trained in ballet /lyricql jazz and have a radio broadcasting license . I’ve also had my own health challenges including myself two gynecological surgeries , one very rare diagnosis and first hand experiences with the impact of medical trauma (plus several sports injuries and anxiety) . I also have varied taste in music and EDM tends to give me an instant mood boost. I”m setting up a few exciting things for this year and will be starting to post and share more content . So nice to meet you all and stay tuned.
Great information about ADHD.

Happy Earth Day!
A meditative walk under the full moon. This is considered a time to connect with yin . Other ways to add some restorative energy can include taking some time away from electronic devices (including turning off the wifi) blackout curtains /shades to reduce ambient light (especially in the city) and spending time in nature.
Today is . An IG post highlights some amazing organizations that provide a variety of support and community. Although there are huge gaps and inequalities in health care and treatment , there are also advocates and lots of resources to reach out to and ask for help if needed. One of my favorite parts of work outside of the office is being part of community clinics and being able to share resource info when appropriate and needed .
Happy Lunar New Year. Today is the first day of the Year of the Black (Water ) Rabbit. The 5 element cycle means an element will pair with an animal every 60 years .
grateful for the opportunity to be of service and part of health, wellness and education in a variety of settings and adding some new skills .
Getting out in nature is grounding and a great way to relax. Part of my meditation practice is to get outside for regular walks without the distraction of earbuds and an opportunity to listen to the sounds of nature (even close to a very busy street there are birds and squirrels plus the wind /occasional rain). This eucalyptus grove in rustic canyon is one of my favorite places to reflect on some recent homework assignments while learning and going a bit deeper practicing the ways of council.
Mental Health Awareness Month.
I know I haven’t posted on this page in awhile (and the content I thought cross posted seems to be hidden).
Here’s a fun and informational video. It can be difficult to research food sources. One of the main reasons I follow a plant based diet is due to “factory farming” (a whole separate topic as diet like other bigger current topics is a personal choice) . I also grew up on a small family farm with access to seasonal home grown produce which is something I took for granted until learning more about the use of pesticides and how larger scale farms use genetic modifications.
Seasonal produce by region also tends to have some of the best health benefits for that zone during its natural season .

Happy Winter Solstice! Today is the shortest and most yin day of the year . It is conspired a time of reflection in many traditions .
It’s been quite a year - I seem to post more on IG . I am hoping to change the settings on this page a bit or maybe start a new one.
Like many, the two years have included many changes and an increased awareness and focus on self-care in a variety of ways beyond the page theme for a private practice and hope to be able to provide more info on a variety of health, wellness and lifestyle topics
Finding Nature in the City
Spending time in nature and finding creative ways to connect with plants and trees has been shown to have numerous benefits on health and healing . Living in apartments and near busy streets can make this more of a challenge (especially in LA or other large metro areas) .
I haven’t been able to add photos to posts lately (just an option for live videos) so some of my intended posts haven’t made it onto FB from IG .
Hopefully this will sort itself soon ! Updated website in the works 🤗
Grateful for a few recent 5 star reviews on Yelp! Swipe for a second one and my office “style” for 2020/2021) . Very grateful the precautions myself and my colleagues are taking in our office are appreciated during an unpredictable year of changes .
