This hadith really strucked me as this is the reality of Social media. We been shown all these expensive cars and houses on the social media. Sometimes we feel inadequate in what we have and unknowingly this is what the hadith below is telling us:
Abu Hurairah (RAA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Look at those who are lower than you (financially) but do not look at those who are higher than you, lest you belittle the favors Allah conferred upon you.” Agreed upon.

*Daily Checklist from Ali (r.a):-
Don't Let the Obsessive Chasing of the Pleasures of This Life Stop You from Your Share of the Good You Could Have Had in the Next Everlasting Life!!*
Ali ibn Abi Talib (r.a), the close Companion and follower of the Prophet (s.a.w) said:
"The intelligent is the one whose worldly share (of things that he gets) does not stop him from his share of the Aakhirah (Next Life)!"

*About Umar ibn Khattab
& That We Don't Decide How Much Rizq We Get, We Only Affect How Much Reward We Earn from It*
Umar ibn al-Khattab (r.a)
- the illustrious Companion/ Sahabiy, the 2nd Rightly Guided Khalifah to the Prophet (s.a.w) as Leader of the Believers, the gigantic star whose bio continues to emanate energy and motivation for us over centuries, and the 2nd greatest most learned Scholar with Deep Understanding of Islam
- he (may Allah be pleased with him) said:
"Between a slave (ie worshipper) and his provisions (rizq) is a curtain (barrier):- If he is pleased and satisfied (with what Allah gives him), his provisions come to him; but if he pounces and rips the curtain, he will get no more than his provision (that was decreed for him regardless of that behaviour)."

*A Really Important Advice to All Muslims Today Trying Keenly to Implement Islam As It Is But ...*
Young Muslim Brothers and Sisters start to practice religion these days alhamdulillah. With good intentions, they read Quran & Hadith or listen to lectures of 'fire-brand' simplistic speakers and understand religious guidance to be simple and a complete 'no-brainer'. Hence, such youngsters know no real Scholars because they do not humble themselves to Scholars.
The reality is that Islamic guidance is no doubt simple and sensible. But what we think is simple and straightforward, is not always actually simple or straight forward! It maybe our error. Whereas, in fact, Islam has guidance for simple ideal situations as well as guidance for exponentially complicated situations. To know the latter, we need to study Quran, Hadith, Fiqh and its principles OR we need to ask Scholars who have studied that. If we don't do either, we can end up losing the track partially and harming ourselves and harming others!
*As Ibn Shawdhab, one of the early great Muslim Scholars, said:-*
"Part of the favours of Allah upon a youth when he worships, is to have him be with a person of Sunnah who takes him on to it (ie on Sunnab, ie the path of the Messenger of Allah s.a.w)."
*Two Keys to Finding Guidance Even for Complicated Matters*
Key to getting it, as we learn from Islamic texts, is sincere dua for guidance and sincere submission to Allah with our mind, our heart and our actions.
May Allah guide us all to Islam and within Islam, as Abu Bakr ibn Ayyash said:
"The Sunnah inside Islam is rarer (to have followers) than Islam is among all other religions."
*An Important Footnote*
Note: Sunnah is knowing the Hadith (which anyone can read) as well as its understanding (which requires scholarly understanding for complicated matters' hadith)......................................
*The Status of Islamic Knowledge*
It is related that Ali ibn Abi Talib said:-
"It is a sufficient distinction for knowledge (of Islam), that (even) those who are not good at it, claim to have it!"
..................................
*Whole Community Having Khushu in Prayer is a Very Positive Sign*
Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "The first of what you lose from your religion is Khushu (ie attentiveness/mindfulness in Prayer), and the last of that which you lose from your religion is the Prayer (Salat).
Some who pray, may have no good in him.
And the time is drawing near when you enter a Mosque of congregation and see no one among them with Khushu (mindfulness in prayer)!"

*Deep Insight Into Our Own Mind and Soul*
The great Tabiee Hasan Basri rahimahullah said:-
The ruining of the hearts comes from six things:
{1} First of these is that they commit sins hoping to repent (one day),
{2} they acquire knowledge but do not act according to it,
{3} when they do actions, they are not sincere,
{4} they eat the provisions given by Allah yet do not thank Him,
{5} they are not pleased with Allah's distribution (ie varying amount of sustenance from person to person)
{6} they (go and) bury the dead yet do not reflect to take lessons from it!
.............................................
*We Have What We Need. If We are Mindful of That, We will Never be Sad!*
Muwarriq al-Ejly said:
"O Son of Adam,
You are provided each day your Rizq (sustainance) and you are sad (of not having had more), yet your life decreases (with each day) and you are not sad of it!
You seek that which passes you by, while with you is that which is enough for you!"
..................................
*Keep the Focus on What Really Matters (ie Aakhirah)*
Fudayl ibn Eyad rahimahullah said: "Sadness for this Dunya (worldly things), drives away the care (and concern) for the Aakhirah (the Everlasting Life); and joy over the worldly (dunya), drives away the sweetness in worship!"
............................................
*Spend Time to Think of Hell-fire and Let Its fear Grow Inside in a Balanced Healthy Way*
Yahya ibn Mu'aadh rahimahullah said,
"The Miskeen (needy, poor) among the human beings, if he feared the Hell-fire as he fears poverty, he will enter Paradise (Jannah)."
.......................................
*Thinking of and Craving the Paradise Makes Our Hearts Safe from the Addictions of this Life*
Ali Ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) said:
"Whoever craved the Paradise tends to be unmindful of the lusts and pleasures of this life."

A kind reminder to give Zakat-ul-fitr this Ramadan - https://mailchi.mp/df101362217d/ramadan-mubarak-to-you-family-5959700
A kind reminder to give Zakat-ul-fitr this Ramadan We are half-way through this blessed month of Ramadan. While we are busy with our worship actions, let us also remember the importance of Zakatul-Fitr in Ramadan:
Ramadan Mubarak to You & Family - https://mailchi.mp/66a9b5cb3783/ramadan-mubarak-to-you-family
Ramadan Mubarak to You & Family
*A Wise Person Who Thinks of the Aakhirah as We Think of the Dunya*
It was said to a Hakeem (a knowledgeable / wise person): What do you desire?
He replied, "To be in wellness / safe health for a day".
It was then said to him, "Aren't you already in wellness every day?"
He said, "Wellness is for a day to pass without a (single) sin."

*Don't Follow Just the Emotions!
Instead, First Figure Out the Truth, From Its Evidence, Using the Mind.
And then, Follow that Truth With Both the Mind and the Heart!*
Verily, those who believe not in the Hereafter, We have made their deeds fair-seeming (pleasing) to them, so they wander about blindly.
[Surah An-Naml 4]
............................................
This verse shows that even bad deeds seem beautiful to the bad doers. So, first check with Allah's guidance (not mere subjective emotions) if a deed is good.

*The Company We Choose to Keep*
Abdullah Ibn Mubarak, one of the early generation great Scholars said, "Let your gathering (sitting) be with the needy (poor) people."

*Many of Us Tend to Make Ourselves Lose (Again and Again) While We All Have the Means to Succeed! Ali ibn Abi Talib (r.a) Informs Us How*
Ali ibn Abi Talib (r.a), the ever youthful Sahabiy in terms of his bravery and courage, yet wise and highly knowledgeable, loyal Companion, devout and sincere slave of Allah and the fourth rightly guided Khalifah to our dear and beloved Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w) said:-
"Surprising it is that a person perishes (gets destroyed) while he has the means to be saved."
Ali (r.a) was asked, "What is that (means to save oneself)"?
Ali (r.a) replied, "Repenting (from sins, ie Tawbah) and Seeking (Allah's) forgiveness (ie Istighfar)."

*Sign of a True Friend*
It is reported that the wise, courageous and great 4th Khalifah (Successor in Leadership) after the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said:
"A friend is not a friend unless he protects his friend in his abscence and after his death."
.......................................
*Patience for a Short Time (Till the Desire Passes Away or Till the Incomparably Long Everlasting Aakhirah), Gets a Person to Paradise. Whereas Impulsivity & Indulging in Worldly, Gets Us to the Hellfire in Aakhirah, and Also Usually Gets Us the Pain Eventually in This Life*
al-Hasan al-Basri, the great ascetic and wise Scholar of the generation of the Tabieen (ie followers of the Prophet's Companions) said:-
"Patience (Sabr) is a treasure from the treasures of Paradise. And a person attains all the good ONLY with patience for an hour."

*Allah Provides Us All, Out of His Generosity, Usually Through the Cause and Effect Dynamics*
The great and wise 2nd Khalifah after the Prophet (s.a.w) said:
"None of you should keep away from seeking his sustainance (provisions) saying, 'O Allah, provide (sustain) me' - (because) you certainly know that the sky does not rain gold or silver!"

*Two Destroyers of People*
Imran Khan, the current Muslim Prime Minister of Pakistan, who was also the Captain who led his national team to World Cup victory, and was an exremely successful player and team captain said in a recent interview that over the years mixing with so many people across the globe, he found that what ruins people are:
1. Arrogance
2. (Overly inflated) Ego
---------------------------------------
In Quran, Allah cautions us of this pitfall so often as did the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) in many Hadith.
Given that arrogance and inflated ego are so common destroyers of people, it is good for our ownselves to constantly do private and sincere self introspection if we have some or lot of arrogance and egotism also.

*Two Powerful Ingredients to Leadership*
Sheikh-u-iIslam Ibn Taimiyah said:
"With patience (sabr) and certainty (yaqeen), leadership (Imamah ie role-model) in Religion is achieved".

*Don't Let Ourselves Be Controlled by Our Tongue*
Imam Shafiee rahimahullah said: "If you spoke about that which does not concern you, the words have owned (and controlled) you, whereas you did not own (control) the words".

It was narrated from ‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr bin ‘As that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
“He has succeeded who
{1} is guided to Islam,
{2} is granted sufficient provision and
{3} is made to be content with it.”

*The Best We Can be to Others is We to Remind Each Other of Allah, the Exalted*
It was narrated from Asma’ bint Yazid that she heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say:
“Shall I not tell you of the best of you?”
They said: “Yes, O Messenger of Allah.”
He (ﷺ) said:
“The best of you are those who, when they are seen (by others), Allah the Mighty, the Majestic, is remembered!”

*A Perfect Analogy from the Messenger of Allah to Never Lose Sight Of!*
It was narrated that ‘Abdullah said:
“The Prophet (ﷺ) lay down on a reed mat, and it left marks on his skin.
I said: ‘May my father and mother be ransomed for you, O Messenger of Allah! If you had told us we would have provided you with something that would save you this trouble.’
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘What is there between myself and the world? This world and I are just like a rider who stops to rest beneath the shade of a tree then goes and leaves it.’”

*Good to Be Honest and Accept Our Wrongs Rather Than Deny, While Being Hopeful of Mercy and Good from Allah*
It was narrated from Anas that the Prophet (ﷺ) entered upon a young man who was close to the moment of death, and he (ﷺ) said:
“How do you feel?”
The young man said: “I have hope in Allah, O Messenger of Allah, but I fear (punishment due to) my sins.”
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “These two things (hope in Allah's mercy and fear of punishment for sins) do not coexist in the heart of a person in a situation like this, except that Allah will give him that which he hopes for and keep him safe from that which he fears!”

*Simple Few Things to Fulfill the Purpose of Life are Enough to Acquire for a Life of Satisfaction and Success. We Don't Need to Be Obsessed Chasing Large Sums of Wealth*
It was narrated from Abu Wa’il that a man from his people – Samurah bin Sahm – said:
“We stopped with Abu Hashim bin ‘Utbah, who had been stabbed, and Mu’awiyah came to visit him.
Abu Hashim wept and Mu’awiyah said to him: ‘Why are you weeping, O maternal uncle? Is there some pain bothering you, or is it because of this world, the best of which has already passed?’
Abu Hashim said: ‘It is not for any of these reasons. But the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) gave me some advice and I wish that I had followed it:
He (the Prophet) (ﷺ) had said:
“You may get to a time when you will see wealth being divided among people, yet all that you will need of that wealth is merely {1} a servant and {2} a mount (animal/vehicle) to ride in the cause of Allah.”
I did get to that time, and I did go onto gather wealth!'”

*A Very Precious Insight from Hasan Basri About Why at Times Some People May Love You Or Hate You Unjustly*
al-Hasan al-Basri rahimahullah said:
"You will continue to be a generous (admired) person to the people as long as you do not dispute (ie try to take) that which is in their hands. If you do (try to take) that, they will regard you lightly (considering you as little), dislike your talk, and will hate you."
..............................................................
*Invaluable Examples from History about This*
Sometimes you may try to take what is with others for your own self (perhaps even in halal manner), and those who stand to lose will dislike you for that, as Hasan Basri said above.
But sometimes a person in position of public responsibility and authority has to take what is with others for the sake of Allah, public welfare and justice. And even in such a case, those people who rightfully stand to lose what they have, may still despise and look down upon the person in authority despite all justice, as Hasan Basri informed us. This is why the (1) convicted criminals and (2) other people who stood to lose power, disliked the third rightly guided Khalifah Uthman ibn Affan (radiyallahu anhu), created an unfair appearance of public dislike and uprising against Uthman, and eventually assasinated him, even though he only took what they had for sake of Allah, justice and public welfare!
*Two Invaluable Lessons From These Examples for the Rest of Us*
(1) The rest of us the general public should not look down on someone in such cases just because people with vested interests look down on such just/fair people in authority as Uthman ibn Affan (r.a).
(2) If any of us even now are entrusted with positions of authority and responsibility to establish justice, there will very likely be people who will antagonise such a person in authority despite all justice. The person should carry on in that position for sake of Allah while the rest of people ought to realise and appreciate that and not misunderstand.

*A Time When the Good People Among Us Will Die and Become Fewer Yet Newer Good People Will Not Take Their Place - Closer to the Day of Judgement*
It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
“You will be picked over just as (good) dates are selected (separated) from its bad ones. So the best of you will be taken and the worst of you will be left, so die if you can (ie in those times).”
Sunan Ibn Majah, 4038 | An Authentic Hadith (Hasan)
*Whenever You Are Sick and With Whatever the Sickness Maybe, Seek Allah's Help to Cure You from it With This Dua*
Uthman ibn Abil-'Aas ath-Thaqafi complained to the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) of pain that he had since he became a Muslim.
So the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said to him,
"Place your hand on that which hurts in your body
and say, 'Bismillah' three times,
and say seven times,
'A'oodhu billahi wa qudratihi min sharri maa ajidu wa uhaadhiru'."

Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: the Angel Jibreel (Gabriel) came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said:
"O Muhammad (ﷺ)! Do you feel sick?"
He (ﷺ) said, "Yes."
Jibreel supplicated thus (i.e., he performed Ruqyah):
"Bismillahi arqika, min kulli shay'in yu'dhika, min sharri kulli nafsin aw 'ayni hasidi, Allahu yashfika, bismillahi arqika.
[With the Name of Allah. I recite over you (to cure you) from all that troubles you, and from every harmful mischief and from the evil of the eyes of an envier. May Allah cure you; and with the Name of Allah, I recite over you]."
[Sahih Muslim]

*Prophetic Dua You Say for Yourself When Sick, and Say for Anyone Other ill People*
'A'isha reported that "when Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) fell ill, he recited Mu'awwidhatan (the last two qul surahs of the Qur'an), and blew over himself.
And when his sickness was severe (during his final days), I used to recite over him and rub him with his own hand - with the hope (of more blessings) since it was more blessed".
{Sahih Muslim, 2192 b}

Note: The Prophet (ﷺ) would do the same recitation in same manner to the other person when any person from his relatives got sick, as in the hadith before this hadith in Sahih Muslim, ie. 2192a.

Aishah (r.a) said that when the Prophet (ﷺ) would visit a sick person [from his family], he would touch him with his [right] hand and say:
Allahumma Rabban-naasi, Adh-hibil-ba'sa; ishfihi wa antash-shaafee, laa shifaa-a illa shifaa-uka, shifaa-an laa yughadiru saqaman
This Dua means:
O Allah the Lord of the people, drive away the harm, cure him and you are the Curing One, there is no cure except cure from you, (cure him with) a cure that leaves no illness.
