Sandy will be out of town on his birthday,!so we celebrated early with dinner last night at our fave fine dining restaurant here in East Sacramento. Everything that comes out of the kitchen at Allora Sacramento tastes sublime and shows all the thought and care that went into the creation of it. A rare treat for us, made extra special by the fact that it’s our first couple’s night out in over a year. Cheers to us and to making more memories together in our forever home. Sandy Kenyon

My weekend activity besides writing…I repurposed a planter from a floral delivery by creating this little succulent garden. Love the look, and better yet, it’s drought resistant and needs little watering. The aloe will come in handy for treating skin rashes, burns and minor cuts. A garden and and a pharmacy all in one!

Mystery lovers, ahoy! Book One of my Cypress Bay mystery series is on sale today as an Amazon Kindle Daily Deal. Set in a California seaside town, it features property manager extraordinaire, Tish Ballard. In BONES AND ROSES, she moonlights as a sleuth after discovering the bones of her long-missing mother in a footlocker in a storage unit. Foul play is evident and she's determined to find the killer. I loved writing this series, and if you want to give it a whirl, I think you'll enjoy reading it. It's dark and twisty but just light enough so as not to give you nightmares. Hopefully, it'll keep you guessing! Open Road Integrated Media Sandra Brown

My friend Mia, from the farmers market where I shop sells the most amazing strawberries that she grows. They’re organic and fresh-picked the day before. You can taste the difference. You can also pick them yourself if you go to her farm in Elk Grove. Sun strawberry is the absolute best in terms of local produce. And Mia is the nicest person. Sun Strawberry LLC

Here’s a peek at my hubby’s temporary office while construction on his man cave is in progress. The kitchen table in our new home in Sacramento is where it’s all happening in Sandy Kenyon land, folks. Every morning he’s up and at ‘em and banging away at his laptop or Zooming with his peeps in New York before most people are up. No retirement for this guy, he’s busier than ever, and you’ll seldom see him without his AirPods. The question is, when his man cave is finished and he disappears into it, will I ever see him again?

Lunch with my man, who is now in permanent residence here as of yesterday—at last. It’s been a wild ride this past year, between our house remodel, me writing a book and starting another one, and Sandy saying goodbye to his on-air career and hello to his next, off-air career. But we finally came full circle and here we are together again. We celebrated with a trip to the farmers market this morning and the stir-fry I made for lunch with our haul. Life is good and the best is yet to come. 🎈🥰 Sandy Kenyon

What pairs well with coffee or tea? A doughnut or a Danish, sure, but a book has the advantage of being calorie-free. I always have a book in hand when I'm drinking my morning tea. It's part of my daily ritual and how I jumpstart my brain into work mode. if you're looking for your next morning (or anytime of the day!) coffee-break read, you'll be happy to know my novel WOMAN IN BLACK is on sale today, as part of an Amazon Kindle promotion. Grab your copy now, if you're of a mind, and if you enjoy the book, leave a comment. Or leave a comment in any event, and let me know you're reading. I love book recs! Open Road Integrated Media

Looking for your next beach read? If you like reading about female characters who discover their true strength when they're thrown into hot water, you might try one of my two novels that are sale today.

BONES AND ROSES, a mystery, features property manager Tish Ballard, slayer of dust bunnies turned amateur sleuth when she unearths--literally--a clue to the mystery surrounding her mother's disappearance. decades earlier

SUCH DEVOTED SISTERS is about two sisters making their way in New York City after fleeing a bad situation in LA. P.S., it's set in the world of gourmet chocolate, so you might want to have a box of chocolates at hand while you're reading it.

The heroines of both books are kickass. And hey, if you decide to read either one, or both, and you enjoy it, I'd sure appreciate if you could post a review on Amazon and/or Goodreads. But I won't kick your ass if you don't :)

The saga of Sandy’s man cave continues. AND it now has a door. The first of two doors, the other one scheduled for delivery tomorrow. So exciting. Garage, what garage? I’ve forgotten its former purpose already. Can’t for the MAN of the man cave to get here. Less than two weeks! Sandy Kenyon

Yesterday I hit the farmers market where I scored some veggies and fruits in season. This is my fave time of year for a whole bunch of reasons, one being that it’s strawberry and stone fruit season. These organic strawberries from Sun Strawberry LLC made my heart sing and my mouth water. The veggies are good too. So happy with my haul.

Happy Father’s Day in heaven, Dad! This photo of us was taken at Lake Pinecrest where our family camped every year in summer when I was growing up. It was my favorite time spent with my dad. He took us fishing and told stories around the campfire and became a bigger hero in my eyes when he once slayed a rattlesnake and cut off its rattle (which made for some awesome show-and-tells at school). He always wore the same red-checked shirt that we called his “camp shirt.” He was smart, funny, handsome, talented and a wonderful storyteller. Miss you, Dad!

Have you ever seen one of these? A teacup candle, what a brilliant idea. This one is a souvenir from Sandy’s recent trip to London to visit his cousins and our dear friends Alex and Ingrid Large and their children Benjie and Greta. He bought it for me at a street fair because he knew I would love it. He knows me so well. I adore it. The teacup dates back to the early 1800’s. The candle is made from natural wax and organic essential oils from a physic garden. Perfection.Eco Antique Teacup Candles

Sandy’s farewell party was made extra special by my dear friends Author Jen Tucker and her son Ryan, who came all the way from Indiana for the big sendoff and to spend time with us beforehand. We love you so much and having you there was the icing on the cake!

What a night! Sandy’s big good-bye party was last night and wow, what a sendoff! I was the proudest wife witnessing the outpouring of love and affection from Sandy’s colleagues at and other chapters of his life and career. It was a moment. And not a dry eye on the house, least of all mine. Thank you to all who turned out and made special trips in some cases to show Sandy the love. Sandy Kenyon

Congratulations to my friend DOnna Ball on her new release, the latest title in her fabulous Raine Stockton mystery series! This may be her best one yet, inspired by true events and featuring the cast of characters, human and canine alike, that we’ve come to know and love. I devoured it, swept up in the story, carried away by the suspense, which culminates in an exciting climax. You don’t want to miss this one! And if you’re new to the series, lucky you, you have many treats in store.

Now in paperback, hardcover, for your Kindle and Nook. Enjoy!

Meyer lemon cake served with strawberries. The lemons were from a neighbor’s tree. I made the cake in honor of my nephew’s visit, from a recipe sent to me by my friend Janie Chang, Author, originally from the Frog Hollow cookbook. Sweet Janie is my Canadian friend who sent me packaged dry yeast during the pandemic when I couldn’t find any in my local stores (She’s also an amazing author!). My favorite thing about food aside from how it tastes, is how shareable it is, both on the plate and in recipes. This one’s is a keeper and deliciously lemony.

And…we have liftoff! After finally getting all the permits and passing the inspections, we got the concrete floor poured in our garage conversion. Yesterday the bathroom was framed. So exciting to see Sandy’s man cave taking shape! Will post more pics before the final reveal. This has been a saga, folks, and I I’ve seen more of my contractor over the past year plus than I have my hubby, which is kinda sad, much as I love the wonderful dude with the tool belt who shows up every morning. But Sandy will soon be here full-time and all will be right in my world. Sandy Kenyon

I have visitors. I spied this mallard duck pair hanging out on our front lawn, and when I went outside, they gave new a look that said, “We’re not going anywhere” before they waddled to the other end of the lawn. Ducks with attitude. God love ‘em.

I had a great visit with my nephew Jimmy. He flew in for the day and we had so much fun catching up and hanging out together. It was his first visit to our new home in Sacramento and I know it won’t be his last. What a joy to spend time with him. It had been a while. Come back soon, Jimmy, and bring your wife Paola Corona next time! Jimmy Goudge

Remembering my dad on this Memorial Day. He served during WWII as an army pilot and flight instructor, based in Prescott, Arizona, where I would meet my then future husband Sandy many decades later. He was the image of the dashing soldier, and multitalented in his civilian life. Married to my mom for over 50 years, father of six, successful business owner, artist, and self-taught architect, he was a hero in my eyes when I was growing up. Miss you, Dad.
