Our fabulous City Centre venue is The Village Hall on Deansgate Mews at Great Northern Manchester. It’s super easy to find (once you know) but thought this little video might help any folk who may be feeling a little anxious about coming to a new place. It’s the most lovely venue and we’re so excited to be supporting the people of Manchester better their well-being and improve their mental health whilst building local communities. Absolutely blown away! 3 hours. 3 hours it took to fill our July session to 180%. Slight admin error on my side not limiting numbers to 10 people, but I’m going to find a way to support all of you lovely folks who are excited to start your thread journal project. For those who haven’t managed to secure a spot for this month, sign up to our mailing list to hear about any future sessions: buff.ly/3IRgozg We do already have dates up and spaces available for any 18-25 Manchester residents, but these too are filling up quickly. …and stay tuned for a big announcement in the next week (or so)!

This months class is a wonderful technique where we utitlise the negative space and use shading to create an iridescent bubble. Thread painting is a beautiful hand embroidery technique that can be used to create a plethora of different things. Paired with metallic thread and by playing around with colour combinations, you can use this method to create an abundance of things. You can watch this, along with the 30+ hours of historic thread journal classes by joining the VIP club for only £10 per month: https://buff.ly/3uWQ0hk The Thread Journal Club is on at Archive in Cheadle Hulme next Wednesday at 8pm. buff.ly/3NcvZZQ Looking forward to seeing some of you there!

Making my own rules today ♥️

Hand embroidery hobby horse created using thread painting, turkey knot work for the mane and a bullion knot for the stick. Take a little time to nurture your creativity and watch your soul blossom ✨✨✨ The act of creating is not only fun, but it also promotes mindfulness and helps us de-stress. Whether you're painting, journaling, embroidering or even cooking, the act of exploring your creative side can be a wonderful form of self-care. After years of working in a high-stress corporate job, 5 years ago I made the move to pursue my passion for slow-paced creativity. It's been a rollercoaster ride of emotions - leaving behind a stable job with a steady income was scary, but ultimately, the thought of helping others achieve a sense of relaxation and tranquility through my craft is what propelled me forward. I've found that in today's fast-paced world, we often overlook the importance of slowing down and taking time for ourselves. Through my embroidery classes, I provide a space for individuals to do just that - to take a moment to breathe and create something beautiful with their own two hands. So here's to new beginnings and following your dreams. Let's make the world a little brighter, one stitch at a time.

Had such a blast teaching my fabulous Thread Journal folk how to create this gorgeous dimensional caterpillar. 🐛 You can find this and 30+ hours of unique 3D tutorials with the VIP group. Let me know if you’d like the details!

Check out this cheeky Llama 🦙 inspired by my lovely chai seed plant pot. I love a french knot for creating greenery, especially when there’s lots of luscious shades to add some authenticity.

Anyone here local to Manchester? I’d definitely recommend a trip to the gorgeous new Mayfield Park right near Piccadilly Train Station. Great for littlies and there’s also a lovely walk around the park and along the river.

A miniature memory daffodil for your 2023 thread journal. I actually recreated this daffodil for the thread journal tutorial this month using the cast-on stitch, as I wasn’t happy with the trumpet…but it seemed a shame not to share. Whenever you’re not 100% happy with a miniature memory hand embroidery stitch, I always encourage you to leave it on your project anyway. That way you can see how much your techniques progress over time and it avoids sucking all the joy out of your creations.

The perfect way to end a bank holiday weekend!
15 folks booked on for our Thread Journal class this evening at the gorgeous Village Hall at The Great Northern in Manchester. Can’t wait to be surrounded by lovely creative folks sharing some calming time out together with a lovely brew.

The littlest Evans has dropped her naps. Please send wine, 3 extra hours a day and tips for occupying a 2 year old with activities so I don’t have to stay up till midnight every night to get work done.

Watermelon created using: Satin stitch - Pink Whipped back stitch - Green & white French knots - Black 🍉

How it’s going…

The big reveal! 😉 I knew this one was going to be a challenge but I couldn’t resist capturing that cute little rhino butt after visiting Chester Zoo and meeting their baby for the first time. A good chunk of you guessed right but I don’t blame those who didn’t. It’s pretty tricky to stitch a rhino backside the size of your finger nail! 😆 I wasn’t sure how it would turn out, but I like a challenge and am pleased I tried something different.

Challenge accepted. It’s the last in this series of Thread Journal classes working with folks living with or receiving treatment for cancer…but I’m just seeing it as the start of a new chapter. My current focus is sourcing funding to continue working with those who need the creative self care time the most. Watch this space…

Life hack…let your children face paint you whilst you lie on the sofa under a blanket with you mr eyes closed. The closest I’ve been to a spa treatment for some time!

Who else has that little demon sat on their shoulder encouraging those feelings of imposter syndrome? Sometimes you just have to ignore that little voice telling you it can’t be done and crack on with those plans! Sharing the wins because they can sometimes feel few and far between and I truly believe that positivity breads positivity. So a BIG thank you so Beverley for literally making me Woop! See you on the 29th for our exclusive Macclesfield class launch. Please do share your wins here with me. Let’s all jump on the positivity band wagon and celebrate each others achievements this week!

New venue! I know you’ve been asking me to do classes on other locations, so I’ve listened and am excited to partner with The Monocle Cafe in Macclesfield. If this Introduction class goes well, I will potentially start a regular class here so please come along if that’s something you’d like to happen. Much love!

I can’t believe it…
I can’t quite believe it… Our third Introduction to Thread Journal class has been completely booked up again. We’ve even got a wait list for folks keen to come along, so if you can make it for whatever reason please let me know. If you’re living in Manchester and fancy a free, creative activity in beautiful surroundings head over to www.EvansSent.com/events to secure your place.

Supermarket hack…take your 2 year old with you to half the work load and get it done in half the time. Lies. It’s all lies. Not only will it take 3 times as long, you’ll spend approximately eleventy billion on fresh fruit and relatively healthy snacks because you hope they’ll actually eat them if they’ve put them in the trolley…

Mini marshmallows and cafe meet ups with friends. 🥰 How am I 5 years in and never created these before?! I used the bullion stitch technique and 1 strand of floss to make them.

Being a mum means having little people steal your birthday wishes and not (really) minding. Don’t worry, you know I relit it and blew it out myself as soon as her little back was turned! 😂

I simply had to immortalise this sassy ass coat. I can’t believe how much it suits her! Capturing life’s lovely little moments in miniature on my 2023 Thread Journal…

Thought I’d try my hand at some neon signage. So chuffed with how it turned out!

This year, I wanted to find a way of tracking all of you fabulous creative folk in my thread journal. So…every single person who comes along to my in-person or virtual classes this year will be recorded as a rainbow of french knots. Each colour represents a different event. It was a busy January!

I simply had to embroider this beaut of a double rainbow! I think this is the first one I’ve ever seen…that I remember anyway. That is one of the true joys of the Thread Journal. It helps you to capture and remember some of life’s little but lovely moments. The every day joys that you acknowledge at the time, but the memories just pass on by. By focussing on these snippets of loveliness whilst stitching and feeling some gratitude towards life’s little joys, it helps to bank it into your long term memory.
