During my experience with Cool America Magazine earlier this year, I had the honor of spending some time with my brother Omar by the fireside to discuss a number of topics close to my heart. Here, he asks me about #ancientTEK and we discuss what we can learn from the indigenous stewards of our world.
With the chatter around how detrimental AI can be - and make no mistake, it can be just that - I believe it's also important to highlight how it's going to help us solve some of the wicked problems we've currently created. While speaking at this year's AI for Good Global Summit for ITU, I spoke a bit on how machine learning will help us get #Gaia back to more sustainable, pristine conditions.
I wanted to share the second half of my video on the D12 separately so as to highlight AIAA - The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics's almighty efforts to bring the selectees to Las Vegas this year. Also, I wanted to shed a bit of light on the behind-the-scenes work my team and I are doing to work closely with other organizations to bring all of the D12 cohorts' dreams to fruition.
With AIAA - The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics' Ascend Space happening next month, I wanted to share a bit about the genesis of the Diverse Dozen and what these folx bring to the discussion of space environmentalism/sustainability. Part 2 coming soon. Booya. π€π½
You often hear me speak of having successful conversations with our environment, and in some instances, I mean this quite literally. The increasingly polluted highways on orbit will eventually start tearing down our ways to communicate and collect data on our space environment, to our own detriment: banking, internet, GPS. The very technologies that govern our everyday lives. This is why I invite each and every one of you to join me in becoming a space environmentalist and in deploying empathy in our dealings with Gaia. πΉ credit: MacArthur Foundation #space #environmentalist #lookup #foundation
Beautifully crafted piece from the production team over at the College of the Atlantic Summer Institute. Thank you for this unique opportunity to share the work of stewardship and space environmentalism with the world. Much love and aloha!
Our team would like to thank each of you who reach out to us each month regarding the work we do and how you too are inspired to do the work of space environmentalism. For those who don't know, I recently launched a monthly newsletter, #Attune, with updates on the work we do, upcoming events I'll be speaking at, and ways for you to be involved. Want to check it out? Head over to Moriba.com and drop your email in the box at the bottom of the screen. Much love and aloha! π«Άπ½
In the coming weeks and months ahead, I look forward to introducing you to the many indigenous wayfinders informing me on ancient TEK. In the meantime, I wanted to share this excerpt from my recent article for AIAA - The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics's Aerospace America on what ancient TEK is and why I feel it's a solution to our current predicaments. Want to dive deeper? Check out this month's piece at the link below or in my Story. https://aerospaceamerica.aiaa.org/departments/indigenous-peoples-have-much-to-teach-us-about-sustainability-even-in-space/
On my recent live, I discussed what it means to say "I expect to see a certain behavior," the meaning behind those probabilities, and the importance of non-binary thinking in problem-solving and evaluation. I dig into this topic, while waxing poetic on my current mosquito bite, on the link below. Join in the convo and level β¬οΈ. What topics would you like to see me cover next? Drop your ideas below. Booya. π€π½
Satellites and other objects in space are changing our night sky for both astronomers and indigenous cultures. Thanks to National Geographic Society, our team at Privateer is working on a project that will allow us to minimize the impact of human-made technology moving forward called Glint Evader. I'm deeply grateful to share our message of #spaceenvironmentalism this year at the 2023 Explorers Festival. If you're attending, please come chat. I would love to know how others are doing the work. Booya! ππΎ #natgeo #lincolnmemorial #inspiration #stewardship
When speaking with Salon earlier this spring about solutions for space junk, I shared that I opt for the hybrid approach. We need to combat these issues from all fronts. Core to that, in my opinion, is absorbing the lessons of our indigenous forebears and their successful attuning with Gaia's environments. We all need to take up the mantle of protector of our home if we're going to make true and lasting change. Level β¬οΈ! ππ½ #spaceshipearth #attune #ancientTEK
I recently had a sitdown with Avrel Seale and the crew at UT News to discuss my recent MacArthur Foundation Fellowship, the #AstriaGraph program we developed here at The University of Texas at Austin, how it blossomed into Privateer, and more.
