Orthorexia is the term for a condition that includes symptoms of obsessive behavior in pursuit of a healthy diet.Orthorexia sufferers often display signs and symptoms of anxiety disorders that frequently co-occur with anorexia nervosa or other eating disorders. Literally translating from the Greek to mean “correct diet”, this phrase was first presented by Steven Bratman, M.D. in 1997 to describe this condition that resembles other eating disorders . These extreme behaviors go beyond attempts to live healthily or lifestyle changes as they can negatively influence a person physically, emotionally, and mentally. As Orthorexia progresses and develops, it can truly mimic damaging effects seen in Anorexia and Bulimia, such as malnutrition from dietary restrictions, social isolation, and emotional instability. Zucchini noodles! Ingredients 10 ounces grape tomatoes 1 teaspoon dried oregano Salt to taste 2 pounds zucchini, spiralized 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil 1 teaspoon lemon zest 1 large clove garlic, minced. Instructions Preheat the oven to 375°F.Toss together the grape tomatoes, oil, oregano and a pinch of salt on a rimmed baking sheet. Roast for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the skins begin to wrinkle and move away from the flesh. Remove from the oven and let the tomatoes cool slightly.Place the zucchini noodles in a large serving bowl.Whisk together the lemon juice, olive oil, lemon zest, and garlic; pour it over the zucchini noodles and toss to coat. Chayote recipe!
One of my favorite foods since childhood is picadillo de chayote, a quick and healthy recipe for the whole family. Just cook the chayote for only 8 minutes in medium heat! "Chayote (Sechium edule) is an edible plant belonging to the gourd family Cucurbitaceae, along with melons, cucumbers and squash. Globally it is known by many names including chayote, cho-cho, christophine, pipinola (Hawaii), pear squash, vegetable pear, choko (Australia). Its tuberous and edible root is called chinchayote or chayotextle in Mexico and ichintal or güisquil in Guatemala. Chayote is originally native to Mesoamerica. It has been introduced as a crop worldwide. The main growing regions like Brazil, Costa Rica, Veracruz, Mexico and Abkhazia. Costa Rican chayotes are predominantly exported to the European Union. The chayote fruit is used in mostly cooked forms. When cooked, chayote is usually handled like summer squash, it is generally lightly cooked to retain the crispy consistency. Though rare and often regarded as especially unpalatable and tough in texture, raw chayote may be added to salads or salsas, most often marinated with lemon or lime juice. Whether raw or cooked, chayote is a good source of vitamin C".
