Videos by Diabetes Advocacy. www.diabetesadvocacy.com provides information and support for people living with diabetes that helps them to live their very best life. We bring people and information together in one place.

I created Diabetes Advocacy as a place to empower and educate people living with diabetes.

You don't choose to have diabetes, but you can choose to make the best life possible for yourself.

As we move toward Diabetes Awareness Month and the end of another year, I would love your input.

If you have diabetes or care for someone who does, what is your biggest challenge?
Barring financial relief or a cure, what would help you to live a better life with diabetes?

Let me know by answering the short survey attached or DM me your thoughts. I would love to hear from you.

When you live with diabetes, it is important to remain educated on your options. When you know your options, you can make informed decisions. You can take your information to your diabetes team and discuss with them if something will help you or not. When it comes to choosing an insulin pump, make sure you talk to all of the reps. Even if you don't buy their product, most have a vast amount of knowledge that they will share with you. That knowledge will continue to help you as you manage your diabetes care.

My husband was in bed. He had to work the next morning and I was sitting in our living room by myself. The lights were off. I looked out over the water. I grabbed a pillow. I pulled it in close and I began to cry. I cried and I cried because all of a sudden it hit me just like a wall. And I realized that I was doing everything right! I was giving him his insulin on time. I was checking his blood sugars as often as I was supposed to. I was scarring his little body with all of those needle jabs and pokes. I was getting him to eat when I could. I was dealing with the highs and the lows. And no matter what I did I was never going to fix it. The first year of living with diabetes was HARD. Every year is hard, but there when the shock wore off and reality set in...it rocked me to the core. You can hear more about my feelings during that first year on the Diabetes Goddess Podcast wherever you listen to podcasts.
