When you live with diabetes, it is important to remain educated on your options. When you know your options, you can make informed decisions. You can take your information to your diabetes team and discuss with them if something will help you or not. When it comes to choosing an insulin pump, make sure you talk to all of the reps. Even if you don't buy their product, most have a vast amount of knowledge that they will share with you. That knowledge will continue to help you as you manage your diabetes care.
Today is the 20th anniversary of Diabetes Advocacy. π₯³ 20 years of sharing information and our journey of life with type 1 diabetes. π 20 years of bringing advocates together. π 20 years of changes π Thank you for being a part of this journey! My husband was in bed. He had to work the next morning and I was sitting in our living room by myself. The lights were off. I looked out over the water. I grabbed a pillow. I pulled it in close and I began to cry. I cried and I cried because all of a sudden it hit me just like a wall. And I realized that I was doing everything right! I was giving him his insulin on time. I was checking his blood sugars as often as I was supposed to. I was scarring his little body with all of those needle jabs and pokes. I was getting him to eat when I could. I was dealing with the highs and the lows. And no matter what I did I was never going to fix it. The first year of living with diabetes was HARD. Every year is hard, but there when the shock wore off and reality set in...it rocked me to the core. You can hear more about my feelings during that first year on the Diabetes Goddess Podcast wherever you listen to podcasts.
