AllAboutBlanks.com watch Susan Mars demo their newest product, "DTF." I love patriotic themes; they can be used daily, not just on holidays.
I went to Tiny Stitches in Marietta, GA, on Saturday, 5/18/24, for a book signing with Denise Russell. Her new book, City Block, inspires ways to make quilt blocks more meaningful. I left with fabric and a signed copy of the book. Denise had beautiful samples on display, as you can see in the photos. The store also had very tasty snacks, which made the day even more enjoyable!
I really enjoy doing free-motion embroidery. Although I have taught it before, I have never used flowers or weeds to add color to my creations. I have used Paintstix, yet this "garden method" is explained clearly, and it has piqued my desire to try it! You can check out the instructions We All Sew and have fun. Now I need to buy a hammer! https://rb.gy/3fdxbr" https://rb.gy/3fdxbr
How to Embellish Your Free-motion Embroidery with Flower Pounding Learn how to embellish your free-motion embroidery projects with flower pounding. It's a great beginner project!
I am making progress row by row, trusting the directions, but that is after attending the Tiny Stitches retreat and getting great answers to all my questions. See those thumbtacks holding my design wall? Hopefully, Ron won't!
Last week, I attended a fantastic quilt retreat by Tiny Stitches Quilt Shop (of Marietta, GA) in a gorgeous setting at Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa. All the tips on best practices for cutting, pressing, and fussy techniques were time savers without sacrificing precision. I met many fun and talented people, and now I know what it is like to be a student firsthand at a retreat. Now, sewing the pieces into blocks. Love Windsong Batiks by Timeless Treasures.
On to the next quilt - happy to have this one done ❤️
Stay warm, to all my friends, who are facing severe weather. Hot chocolate and roaring fire is a great solution. If you don’t have a fireplace, then google it and put it on your TV

Officially done when the quilt label goes on! In the midst of cutting another quilt.
Are you making gifts? The holidays are rushing in! At this moment, my embroidery machine is stitching out labels for quilts.
It’s done! I didn’t have enough QS Clips so I grabbed little ones. Definitely like the larger size clips. I used the #71 foot
Everything is ready to be quilted. I loaded the back fabric onto the frame and realized I need to run out to get batting. 🥲
I updated my Qmatic system last month, so I am testing it out on practice fabric before I stitch the baby quilt. I've had this top in a drawer for 30 years. The update appears to be working fine. It's a small quilt; after so many travels this summer, I must rewatch all the how-to videos! It reminds me of learning how to do machine embroidery in 1995! No breaks when learning new things!
I am finally busy sewing my quilt blocks together. At the same time testing my a practice quilt to ensure the update is working correctly.
Quilting again, something different🪴

Love this bracelet so much… It looks like machine embroidery. 3 weeks ago, I put it on the wrong way, and the bracelet tore. And it was unwearable. I took it to my Jewelers and they flawlessly did the repair. If you live in Cobb Cty or in the surrounding areas, I cannot say enough good things about from repairs to special purchases.
The Mandy Bag is finished. And it is headed to California with me today - a gift 💝 The tag inside says, “This took forever…” Special thanks Gail Squires & friends at the bag retreat.
Thank you to all the lovely ASG members and friends who participated in this past Saturday's event in Chamblee, GA. Just a sampling of photos with happy smiles! The room was filled with various embroidery machine brands from different years and determined owners. The goal of investing time into learning their machines was achieved. (yes, some are going machine shopping now that they know what other features are available!)
Ready to head out to class tomorrow. All the kits are pre-cut, with my favorite "Sew Fab Foam" already fused to the fabric - the car is packed. I love using RNK products in my projects because they are fabulous. Cannot wait to see everyone in class
Sometimes I have to juggle several projects at one time. Do you? Here are my to-dos for this week: I am finishing up cutting a few extra kits for this Saturday's In the Hoop adventure with my ASG friends. The Mandy bag is almost done; I will post pictures later. And washing fabrics for a sewing adventure in California next week... What's on your list?
I have left this on my cutting table all week and it is time to finish it! Do you ever have a project you just can't get your head around? I know what it needs, I see how to fix it and yet I haven't done it. I will get this wrapped up this weekend. What's on your table?

This sweet panel quilt surrounded by coordinating charm squares with a rising Sun theme is from Cottontail Quilts I love the selection of fabrics and assorted quilt kits which makes practice easy and perfect! Helpful friendly staff, too! I bought the last one like this but they have other cute panels❤️
This is a friendly reminder that I need to stock up on the "Quilter's Select Quilt Clips."They're bigger and can hold larger pieces of fabric with fewer clips needed. The little wonders are perfect for garment sewing, and they're a must-have when you want everything to lay flat. See the side-by-side below. Happy Sewing! One more UFO is soon to be completed.
Have you embarked on a project and realized you need one more piece of equipment, like an industrial machine? It is all about making those handles... I used tissue paper to glide over the machine's feet to avoid pulling on the fabric. That will undoubtedly ruin the timing of many machines. Thank you to for coming to my assistance with paint and his experience touching up missed areas with the brush and to for great scissors and tools!
And now, I envision an industrial sewing machine in my future.
