Videos by Nechama Leah Vocal Studio. I help Jewish female singers get out of their head and start singing with freedom, ease and soul. ✨
Let’s keep fighting with the tools we have and may we see the redemption soon!

I’ve been stressing myself out today making to-do lists and trying to get all the things done I didn’t get to do all summer. So I took a little breather to just sing. Don’t forget to sing, friends. 💜 (Pretty sure this version of Achat Shaalti is from Miami Boys Choir)
Belt like Beyoncé: the duck edition 😁 | Kol isha The amazing @tova.sometimes.sings was working on getting a little more power in her mix belt for the song “Listen.” In her case she could totally reach the notes but they were getting a little thin and she wanted more of a powerful chesty sound. The quack helps for a number of reasons, but I love it because it takes the student out of the need to sing pretty and just make this “ugly” sound. 🤪 Believe it or not we need a little ugly to belt those high notes. Try this out and let me know if it helps you! 🤗 Note: this tool choice may not work for everyone because every singer has a different voice with its own tendencies. If you’d like to figure out what your tendency is and get some exercises to help your voice specifically, book a free intro lesson with me!
Lower is not always easier! In this case taking it up a half step from where we tried originally was more comfy for us. Stay tuned for the release of this cover song with @chemdi.romer.soulo ! 😊🎶
How do you find the right key for your cover song? You’ll want to check these 3 main things: ✅ RANGE: Can I comfortably sing the lowest and highest notes? ✅ TESSITURA: Do the majority of notes fall in a comfortable part of my voice to sing? This is super subjective and based on how you feel as the singer. ✅ MONEY 💰 NOTES: Are those sparkly powerful notes at and above your first bridge being showcased? I hope this helps! Hit me with questions in the comments. 😊
Sometimes the hardest thing is just ALLOWING your singing to feel different than you’re used to, or how you think it should. The thing singers say to me most often is “but that doesn’t feel like singing.” Exactamundo. Often what you’re used to feeling like singing has extra tension and effort that you just don’t need. If you’re interested in exploring your easiest singing, send me a DM and I’ll send you a link to sign up for a free intro lesson. 😁
I had a coach say to me recently, “your job is to ENJOY what you’re doing.” How many of us think about our craft like that? Your avoda is to enjoy the writing process. Enjoy the feeling of singing. Enjoy being in your body and creating in the way only you can. What’s something you do in your life you’d love to be more joyful about?
Don’t be afraid to open up your vowels y’all. Try and let me know in the comments if you see an improvement in your tone!
Mmmkayyy? Let that sink in. Cause you’re hard on yourself. I am too. You may not be where we want to be technically, but that doesn’t make you a bad singer, it makes you human. It means you’re a work in progress. And guess what? You always will be, thank G-d! Keep showing up for your own practice, and keep sharing your light. No matter what stage you are in your vocal journey.
Anyone else love SIX The Musical? ✨ Here’s a part of Heart of Stone. This musical is full of fun upbeat songs but for some reason this one’s my favorite. 😄 Should I post the full song? It gets real crazy and belty at the end so I gotta work on it. 🤩
