Based in South West London, Plingboot Leatherwork (me) hand makes a range of leather bags, back pack
A few pics from the Bexhill 100 car show today.
Simple but classy leather bangle. Badalassi Carlo NoFin leather printed on by . I then cut it into strips, hand finish/polish the edges punch a key hole and add a Sam Browne button closure. DM for sales info. 🙂
Another bangle from the ‘skulls and hide.ink’ co-lab. Reclaimed leather, printed on by and crafted into a high quality bangle featuring a hidden skull charm by and a solid copper core. DM for sales info. 🙂
We’ve been experimenting with printing onto leather. I prepared a piece of Badalassi Carlo NoFin leather from and created this fantastic leopard pattern hi and printed it with inks.
More bangle developments. The skull charm is soldered to the solid copper band which runs inside the bangle.
I've been working on a leather/silver co-lab with my goldsmith pal Steve Dennis. These are the first in a range of hand made/sewn leather cuffs. They feature a solid copper strip enclosed in a high quality leather with one of Steve's silver skull charms attached (through the leather) to the copper core.
First guitar strap finished and expertly modelled by its new owner. 🙂 Faux snake skin with a metallic red suede backing. I already have ideas for future versions.
Continuing with my quest to ‘de-chonk’ a couple or recent projects and give them a more pleasing profile. This is a new zip piece for the small skull purse. The zip is also less ‘chonky’ than the one initially used.
Something about the black skull purse/bag was bugging me. I just didn’t look right. So when I made the purple version I adjusted the shape and size of the back piece and gusset and the proportions look so much better.
It might have taken more than two hours to hand stitch the back and gusset pieces onto the skull, but it just looked wrong. New shaped pieces cut, punched, edge finished and ready for two more hours of fiddly awkward assembly… 😬😉😛
Small skull…
Skull bags.

I had a punch specially made for the guitar strap slots. I’d usually punch holes at each end and carefully scalpel between the two to make the slot, but this ensures that they’re all identical.
A few details from the latest commission. A guitar strap - made from snake skin and red foil pigskin. Spoiler alert - IT’S NOT REAL SNAKE😉🙄🙂. Photos just don’t capture the colours though.

Skiving enough pieces of leather to make four leather roses.
Card templates for the next project…
Bowler hat almost complete. Just need to make a band to go around the base of the crown.
Crown section almost complete. Just need to see in the inner band - which will happen at the same time as attaching the brim.
Measuring up the inner band. This is super soft pig skin suede.
A couple of details shots showing the stitch used to join the hat pieces.
Finished the second half this evening 🙂.
