The Dahlia King - a savage bloom.

When I set out to create this piece I wanted to focus on the juxtaposition of the hard and soft elements of nature. The delicate features of the beautiful dahlia, my favorite flower, mixed with the wild and king of the jungle, lion.

This piece is 100% made by hand. Hand drawn, cut with my scroll saw, shaped with my rotary, and finally hand painted.

This is the first piece in the long awaited Into the Wild collection and unlike traditional collections this one will be made and sold piece by piece because that’s what works for my schedule. On top of creating this collection I take custom commissions, I also run a full website and Etsy with core Maple Moon products, as well as numerous vendor/ pop up shows during the year. And if you know me and my work you know each and every piece that leaves my shop is treated with the utmost care and attention to detail whether it’s made by hand or with the help of my laser!

To my fellow artists do what you can in the time that you have and don’t ever feel pressured by others to create in a way that doesn’t work for you!
