Last week our older dancers had their Summer Intensive learning from Alyssa’s daughter, Serena Herschleb, who grew up dancing at Current Rhythms. We are delighted she chose to return to her home town studio to share what she’s been learning at Western Washington University in their dance department with our dancers. They were up for the challenge and now have a new piece to perform for theirs next Showcase. It’s hard to believe we’ll be starting our 28th season in the fall. We’re now teaching our students’ children and having former students teach classes too! Our small town studio seems grander thinking about all the connections being made and branching out. Secret Garden Camp finished up with mud flat and ski hill adventures. We even found some blooming water lilies right here in Cordova. 🪷 Campers let us know that the people, the adventures, and the dancing were their highlights of camp this year. We’ve expanded the age group for our Summer Theater Arts Camp! Now, campers rising grades 6& up can join in the summer fun! Theater classes allow participants to enter new worlds, take on different personalities, and work as a team. Our young actors transform both outwardly and inwardly. We love to watch their metamorphosis! Those who are normally shy become courageous. Those who are normally unsure become confident. This art form certainly stretches beyond the stage and into each actor’s lives. Have your young, aspiring thespian join us this summer and watch their evolution! Hard to believe our classes are already wrapping up for this session! We’ve been so busy moving and creating to stop and post about all the fun we’ve been having in our classes! Our Urban Ninja classes were up for not only one Ninja Challenge, but they took it all the way to the Double Double Ninja Challenge! We love seeing how these movers are learning to work together as a team, to lift each other up, support each other, and observe each other so they can try new things that challenge themselves. We’ve seen an incredible amount of growth in strength, both physically and mentally, in these energetic students. We’re looking forward to more! Most classes are ending this week.
